Thursday---
I get up around 11 to meet with the wife and spend some time with her before I leave for Shane's house. She gets bummed when I have to leave her alone for a day or two. We go out to Bennigans and eat some burgers. I go into work early and spend (what seems like) the longest shift of my life at work. I went in an hour early hoping to leave an hour early. Well, one of the papers were screwed up at 3:00am, and I had to stay till 5:00am to fix it, so I ended up staying an hour later! I just can't win.
So I get home and get about 5 hours of sleep.
Friday---
I get up at 10:00. I wanted to sleep till 11:30, but I'm wide awake with anticipation to get on the road. I go and drop off some coins and get gas and try to gather all the money I have for the trip... which aint much. I wait for a check that I think is coming. The mail shows up finally at 1:30, and the check isn't there. Disgusted, I head 3 hours south to Shanes.
I arrive and bullshit with them for a bit. We go and get some lunch at Long John Silvers before heading back and going straight to the studio. We spend the next 5 hours recording the last song on the new album, called "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A POPSTAR." Its got a "Hey Jude" vibe, which I really dig. ITs also concieved as a "we are the world" piece... a benefit to raise awareness about some great cause... in our case, hating pop singer celebrities. We do about 9 vocal takes on it and mix in almost every voice character we've ever done. I'm immensely proud of the song. So we are strong right out the gate. It ends the album perfectly. I'd be happy if it were the last song you ever heard from us. Its that good.
Shane is tired, so we head upstairs. We bullshit watching TV until he conks out at 1:00am, and I end up watching SCARY MOVIE 2 on Comedy Central. I hated the first one, and I thought the second one was just as dumb. Not funny at all. Obvious humour. Only D. Zucker is good at spoof movies! (my opinion). Anyway, I conk out at 3:40 am.
Saturday---
I wake up at 8:00am. I didn't sleep well cause A)I'm not at home... (i never sleep well when I am not at home.) B)I forgot to ask if they had a fan I could sleep with. (I cannot sleep without the noise of a fan. All year round. Anyone relate?)
We head directly to the studio and record a country song idea Shane has called "I WAS BORN NEXT TO A POWER PLANT." A cute little diddy. I wrote most of the lyrics and shane added to them. He performed all the parts. I sang backup.
Then Shane was hungry so we went to KFC and got some chicken. After that, we headed back and recorded "BADONKYDONK"... a techno song about butts. There is a bit of improv as well on it. One of our old singing characters comes back to sing the song. I won't spoil the surprise.
Then I had this idea for a NIRVANA-type of grunge jam. We recorded that and I mouthed some improv lyrics. The song sounds like it was recorded in 1993! Not a great tune, but this album is all about capturing the feel of genres. That means this song is great! Then we recorded a Death Metal song idea called "Jesus Wept" that I've had for a long time. We kept laughing at the obsurdity of it.
I think there was one more song we did, but I cannot recall it right now.
I leave around 8:40 and head home, stopping about 4 times to pee. (I drank alot of pop). I get home and pass out quickly.
Sunday---
I wake up around 11, Check email and update stuff online. I get a quote from a newer pritning company for a possible comic idea. Its MUCH too high.
I finish up MAYHEM and get it ready to burn to CD for shipping off to the printer.
I take the wife out for lunch and spend the rest of the night working on more "SECRET PROJECT" pages.
