Every now and then, I'll take questions I've saved up from emails, posts, etc. and post them in one big "interview" on the IDIOTHEAD.COM website. But this time I think I'll just post the questions and answers here. More random thoughts below. But for now, here are your questions:
1-When will Pleasant Life #2 go to press?
A-Sometime after or during the summer. Depends on fundings. I'm shooting for August/September and then #3 shortly after that. #2-3 are a two issue story arc so I want to not make people wait inbetween them.
2-When is Earthgirl #2 coming out?
A-Its out now. You can order it online at www.elytracomics.com. OR if you are seeing me in person at this coming up PITTSBURGH COMIC CON, you can buy one from me there. I will probebly not be doing art on issue #3 as I think the creator/writer Melody is gonna try art duties herself. I wish her luck in that. But that frees me up to tackle this other thing I've got coming up.
3-Where is THE OUTCAST?
A-I did the first 3 issues. But I decided upon further research and the revelation and finding of a similar concept in a different medium that I was unaware of, that I need to "tweek" the story a bit and refine it. I've decided to take the time to hone it and keep it on the back burner until Pleasant Life has run its course. Once Pleasant Life is done, then Outcast will make print. Give me some time on it. But its still gonna happen. It rocks. You'll love it. Just wait a bit on it.
4- Where are the IDIOTHEAD PODCASTS???
A-We annouced that Shane and I are doing IDIOTHEAD podcasts and even made a space for it on the site. We have 3 of the episodes recorded. We'll be uploading them within the next couple weeks. and we're also looking into doing live/interactive podcasts and answer live questions just in case anyone is interested. Check the site again soon.
5-How goes the move?
A-Great! Things are in place. I'm packing the truck and moving all the big shit this week. Gotta get it all done before thursday in time for Pittsburgh Comic Con. We'll make it.
6-If you could hang out with any comic book artist/creator for a day, who would it be and why?
A-Now thats a good question... I'd say my top 3 picks would be JIM MAHFOOD, SCOTT KURTZ or TERRY MOORE. I think all three have great tastes in pop culure and could tell me alot about running my own successful small press business. I love those guys and their work.
_______
Okay, hope that helps some of you.
Yes, the move happens in two days. I am not in shape for it, and I'm kinda dreading it. I'm sitting in my old apartment, stacks of boxes of random shit I cannot bring myself to toss out. UGH... and I gotta move it all. This sucks royal donkey ass!!! But survive I will. (Rocky theme plays in background).
I say this every ten seconds, but I am very excited about Pittsburgh Comic Con. I just found out my pal Robert is coming with us, so it will be extra fun. We're gonna draw, sell, buy and drink. Have a great, great time. Fuckin' A. I cannot wait. So fuckin' cool! Hope to see you all there! (well, maybe some of you.)
You never realize how much shit you have until you have to condense it into a 14 foot truck to move it safely and successfully. I dunno ho wI am gonna accomplish it.
I was digging through old art in college and tossing out alot of old shit. I found a couple of pages I did around 2002. Man, have I come a long way. I could look at the pages and instantly tell what needed to be fixed on it. but back then, I thought the page was the shit. Its good to see that I've reached that "professional looking" level to where I am confident about taking my shit further out into the world. For those that haven't seen Pleasant Life #1 yet, let me tell you... its far beyond what I dreamed I'd draw like back in 2002. We've come a long way baby, and we're still going.
It was announced that Capt. Kirk will be in Star Trek 11. YAY!
I got INVINCIBLE tradebook #2. Robert Kirkman is my master now.
Okay, nuff said. Talk to you all later!
