Confused and thankful...

So I get home today and find out that Scott Kurtz of PVPonline.com got rid of his forums today, without any notice. This honestly leaves me scratching my head. I am a huge follower of his work, and what he does. I practically buy everything he does. I have taken part in everything he's done with his site. I got into podcasting because of him. But it seems to me, slowly but surely, he has backed away from all of that. He's quit podcasting completely. He doesn't post videos anymore. He no longer blogs much, unless its about selling his products, promoting his websites, etc. and now... he's got rid of his forums. Odd.

Now granted, Kurtz has been known as a person who at times can speak quite loudly and most people don't like it. While I've considered that bold in the past, now I am unsure. but him speaking this way has attracted alot of negativity to his forums and website. Of course, he's dealt with this in the past, by getting rid of comments on daily posts. But now, he's deleted without notice his forum, which a vast community of pvp fans used daily. To me, this is quite contrary to what they promoted in the HOW TO MAKE WEBCOMICS book, as creating "passionate users" of your work and your site. Forums attract fans and give them a home to go to. If someone goes too far, BAN THEM! Don't just delete the thing! To me now, it seems the whole site is "come see my strip, buy something, then LEAVE." That sucks man.

I continue to like Kurtz' work and hope to one day still meet the man himself and thank him for the inspiration. But the latest moves on his part leave me scratching my head. There's got to be more to this all. I like artists who are "accessible" and seem to be all about the fans. This move demonstrates otherwise to me. I hope that this is not the case.

We love you Kurtz. and your passionate fans want a home. Don't shun them man. Meanwhile, I got a forum at IDIOTHEAD.COM and I welcome any lost soul to it. Come on in from the cold! I won't kick you out (unless you are an ass!).

In other news: Tomorrow's thanksgiving. I'm cooking turkey, dumplings, mashed potatoes and pie. A list of things I am thankfull for:

--That Scotty came out of the hospital healthy and finally.
--That Kelly hasn't kicked my nerd ass to the curb yet.
--That work puts up with my moody ass.
--All my passionate fans who keep supporting me.
--The various friends I've gained over the past couple years in the industry, thanks mostly to the podcasts I frequent.
--that I got to spend some time with Ted this year.
--that all my kitties are still here.
--that Cody is doing so well in sports and school.
--That Pleasant Life is complete and Outcast is on its way.
--That 2009 will be my biggest convention tour and comics release schedule yet!
--That Antarctic Press allowed me to play in their sandbox for a while and apparently I am still welcome there!
--that 2008 was such an awesome convention year for me. The best yet!
--For all the commissions and positive emails I've got on my work this year.
--For the new Star Trek trailer kicking ass.
--For a new Scott Weiland solo CD finally!
--For Blueline pro paper and Sharpie Markers.
--For my parents supporting me many times in my time of need this year.

Lastly, for all of you who continue to come back and support me. Much love to you and happy holidays...
