The crappy comedy band is no more...

Hey folks, ADAM here. I got some news and it is the sort that is good and bad in a way.

Some of you long time folks know that Shane and I started IDIOTHEAD.COM as a hub to hold my comics dealings and our band: IDIOTHEAD. While we talked about really making that a priority and taking it on the road with a convention tour, promoting it together, it just didn’t seem feasible with our respective schedules, family and other outside commitments. But when we could, we got together in his basement studio and recorded three fun, great albums.

Now it seems that perhaps those days are at an end. Shane and I talked this past week and he got offered a job in Maryland and he has decided to take it. He moves early January.

While I do have feelings of dissapointment, I also have feelings of happiness. He’s been offered a “could not refuse” type of promotion and pay raise that insures his family’s security. I would do the same most likely. But I also sense it being an "end of an era" of my life and lord knows, I hate change. Even while I moved down here to the same town he lives in, we really couldn't get our schedules to meet. Sometimes, you just cannot go home again.

That doesn't mean that we will not keep in touch in a variety of ways. Shane and I email on almost a daily basis. We have talked about doing a weekly podcast to keep in touch and get some sort of following to the website. But musically, I don't see how a 4th Idiothead album could come to fruition. While I am not ruling it out necessarily. I am reminded of the double album that the OUTKAST did where each guy took a side and did their thing and released it as one. We could probebly do something like that. However, he's got the bulk of the cool equipment and recording equipment! So my side would sound like shit without a major upgrade in musical tools... something that isn't in the budget/plan right now.

I really do believe that things happen for a reason and that his family will be safe and sound in thier new home. I wish my homie the best and let him know that I will miss him like hell. But this is 2008 and its not like I gotta mail something pony express to keep in touch with my boy. Likely you haven't heard the last of us as a collective creative unit. (hee hee... unit.)

I am not very good at collaborating with others. Its a rare occasion that I do. and when I do, I must have a huge portion of control. But with Idiothead the band, we were both equal. While he was far better than I musically, I made up for it in concepts, funny structures and an ear for song syles to mimmick. I will miss him as a creative partner... the only one I truly trusted. We had a chemestry, in that we always knew what the other wanted to do. Very little dissagreements. those resulted into the melting pot of comedy that encompassed 3 fun comedy rock albums that the world may never take notice of. Thats fine by me. If anything, IDIOTHEAD at its core was about two friends and their connection. I don't regret a thing.

SO: Where does that leave "IDIOTHEAD.COM" as a brand and website?

Well, after discussing it with Shane, I will continue the website as is. Maybe some minor tweeks. Downplay shane's involvement with it. I will own and release all future material under the same IDIOTHEAD banner and that will remain my website.

Join me in wishing Shane luck by giving him some love on our chat forum at www.idiothead.com

Luvs, T
