Ho hum, hum drum. Blah and blah…Same ol’ poop.
Working on penciling/inking Outcast pages. Its extremely slow going. Cause I am taking my time and also with my sporatic chances to actually GET to do it. See, drawing takes a bit of mood and concentration for me. I cannot just sit down and shit Mona Lisa’s on command. No, I have to get into the creative mindset. And at anytime that hits me, I can be taken out of or away from it. Be it tiredness, work interruptions, or feeding the Scott-bot. (yes, Scott-Bot, as in “Futuristic robot sent into the past to poop in some diapers.”)
So, when I get the chance to sit at the table and work, its hard to predict when and for how long. Sometimes Scott sleeps, and I can get a go at it. Sometimes, the wife is home and with him so I can get a couple hours in before I go to work. But mostly its grab what I can when I can. Doing more at work now is not an option because they just installed two more cameras this week, focusing on the desk area, where I could easily hide me sketching/penciling some. Not any longer. I’m on my own! I got about 30-40 pages left to go. I dunno if I will make it. But I do have some hope on the horizon…
Shane is moving and yes, the wife and I were entertaining the idea of getting their house. So far, our efforts to secure a downpayment loan needed have failed. We got a couple more attempts, but really its not looking good. Which, for me is kinda a relief. With the economy so iffy right now, and my job being as rocky as it is lately, it was a major risk. The wife had her heart set on getting the house however. We’re still seeing if the chips fall into place. If they don’t, we’re gonna use what money we were able to secure to finally, FINALLY get me the MAC COMP that I have desperately needed and have been asking for, for the past two years. Something modern that I can build my website on, scan photos and do digital colouring once more. Its been almost three years since I have even TOUCHED photoshop. Can you believe that? Yeah, for an artist in today’s age, that’s a kill. So if that happens, I am finally back in the game.
So, let fate decide.
This week, a new SCOTT WEILAND CD comes out. Its no lie that I am a huge Scott Weiland fan. I just love the man. He’s a dynamic singer, performer and snappy dresser. I love what he brings to STP and his solo CD stands as my favorite solo artist (while their band is on hiatus) CD of all time. I remember when I first bought “12 Bar Blues” in 1998. It was WAREHOUSE RECORDS in Mt. Pleasant, MI. That store is no longer there. In fact, a good 80% of the cool record stores I used to frequent are no longer there. Gone in the age of toreents, burning and downloading. No one listens to vinyl anymore either. Me, I had to sell off my vinyl to afford our move down here. An unfortunate casualty.
Anyway, a new Weiland CD takes me back man. Its been 10 years since the last one came out. From what I’ve read, I’ll quite like it. Tonight, I also FINALLY downloaded the newest NINE INCH NAILS CD from their website that they were offering for free. I never did buy “YEAR ZERO” either. Putting that on my MUST BUY list now. Plus, a cool ass WHITE ZOMBIE RETROSPECTIVE box set just came out. I must have that!
But first, gotta get some cash together! Still awfully tight!
This week: On the AMATEUR HOUR PODCAST we feature the triumphant return of Anthony Harris. We’ll chat live with all the usuals. Please join us. I plan to finish penciling what I got going right now on OUTCAST, clean up the house a bit, straighten up my office area, work on my new ONLINE STORE, and keep in contact with those who I haven’t chatted with in a while. That’s you baby. Hit me up.
Till next time…
