You get two days off in a row and they just fly by don't they? I didn't get too far in what I wanted to do. Thursday, I stayed off the phones during the podcasts and got some inking done. I am within 5 pages of finishing the art on Outcast. Some I've got partially pencilled. I may go back through what I've got and decide if it flows logically and add a scene here and there. Making me do a couple more pages. But other than that, I'm damn close.
I started scanning PLEASANT LIFE pages and doing the tones on them. I am on page 72 of 170. Slowly plugging away. Pages 1-48 are completely toned and word ballooned. I haven't been able to really concentrate on it fully this week cause Scott Bot has been fussy has hell! He's wiggling around even right now, ready to start crying for god knows why. Probebly tired I think. Last night he woke up at midnight and stayed up till 2:30! I dunno what the deal is or why he suddenly decided to come off of his schedule.
I am getting that sinking feeling as I work on these PLEASANT LIFE pages that I knew I would get. Since I finished the art on these almost a year ago, going back now that I have gotten a bit better, I am extremely fighting the urge to redo pages. Sometimes the art really bugs me. Other times, its good. I knew that would happen. I am redrawing a couple panels here and there, but I cannot obsess over it or else I'll never get the damn thing done! I hope I don't feel the same thing on the OUTCAST pages!
There's a blogger out there who is getting alot of heat for proclaiming that the world "doesn't need anymore female superheroes." And I say officially: FUCK THAT GUY!
He's an idiot, and a biggot. EVERYONE needs a superhero, especially now. I think giving a young female reader a positive role model other than what they currently got to look up to (any fucking popstar or rich bitch out there right now) is extremely important. Creators should step up to provide that. The best comics I have read are when women can stand on their own and kick as much as as the men.
For my part, I can guarantee in THE OUTCAST that the girls kick ass. Definately. In fact, when I concieved of the idea, it was a female superhero idea that evolved into what it is now. I wanted a "modern day Wonder Woman." Thats not to say the characters in my book are squeaky clean examples of good. Far from it. But I think they inspire people to look up to them in a way. Because they can choose to do the right thing. And yes, kick ass.
So fuck you blog guy. I give you this:
In other news, Pittsburgh comic con moved so I am readjusting my convention plans accordingly. I was considering adding another show on but I decided to just start out my con season at this year's MOTOR CITY show in may. I might add another con onto the end of the year. We'll see how the first couple shows go for me. I am considering it.
I've kicked soda, other than diet faygo orange...which has zero calories. Drinking more water. Its yum. I got the original Battlestar Galactica on DVD, also the 80's Buck Rogers series. A treat for finishing my comic book work. I'll dig into them when the work is funny completed. I did get the BSG soundtrack for season 2, which is keeping me audibly comfortable in this final lap of production. I also got an ITUNES card and bought the Dark Knight and Conan the Barbarian soundtracks.
Just gotta stay focused and eyes on the prize. Fight through this self doubt in my work, fix what I need to fix and just rock it.
