I watched last week with drool dripping from my mouth at the Ipad 2 announcements. I instantly knew I wanted one. Hell, I wanted one last year!!! But I decided to wait. Cause I knew they'd improve it, but also I was quite broke at the time. We could get one this friday at launch day, but I think we are holding off till next paycheck week. Smarter I think.
I fell in love with the concept of this thing. I have many reasons for wanting one:
1-To provide backseat enjoyment for the kid on long car rides. No need for a portable DVD player anymore and saves the space of bringing a few dvds with us on trips. Just one thing with downloaded material for the kid.
2-The kid during the day has the run of the big screen TV for his cartoons. While I am stuck watching things on my tiny classic Ipod. I can now watch Trek (and other stuff if you like) on the larger screen. AND check my internet stuff right there in the living room. No more running to the office and letting him get into mischief, as two year olds do.
3-To take credit cards at con appearances. Through this special app and swiper, I can take credit/debit cards at cons. Yes. Talk about increasing my game! You know how many times I am handed a credit card at a con or a "I gotta go to the ATM" and then they forget to come back? Yeah. No more of that!
4-Ibooks - I keep threatening to take more time to enjoy books in my off hours. Well, this is a way to do it as well. The concept of reading a book on a new thing is interesting. It may help me get back in the habit. And the kid into the habit. Cause thats likely how he will be reading the classics in school is on an Ipad like that.
5-Education for the kid - True, in the future, I think every kid will need one of these. It will replace lined paper. I really think so. So why not stay ahead of the game for once and get with the program of new technology!?
6-Cause they are damn convenient and cool. Case rested on that one.
7-To get rid of high phone bills. We pay $200+ a month for our two blackberries, and I cannot stand talking on the phone in teh first place. I just like having it for checking email and FB and twitter on it. But I don't NEED to be doing that 24/7 do i? Why not just use the ipad when I am out or traveling and save the other stuff for home. I don't need to tweet that I am at work or that I am eating at Logans restaurant again. Who NEEDS to do that and read that? Time to cut back on that so much.
8-Cause I wanna!
Okay, thats my case. There are other reasons I am sure, but I lost my train of thought on this. I just fucking want one okay? And I will have one. Cause it will help muh business. Yes.

Been working on commissions, new pieces and experimenting with copic markers this last week. I am trying to stay ahead of the game on work. I got a couple nights of digital coloring ahead of me this week as well. Back to reality with me. Just gotta work hard and occupy my mind for the next week and a half and then hopefully its Ipad time!!! :)
...I am becoming obsessed, aint I?
I got some goals to list off for you: TOP GOALS I WANT TO ACCOMPLISH THIS YEAR:
1-Continue to drop weight. I am down 16+ pounds right now. On the way, but no where near where I want to be. Gotta keep rocking. I'm off soda and now its time to keep going on this thing!
2-Read THE HOBBIT. I started it last week. Actually thats a big problem with me. I used to read alot but then not now. No time to enjoy a book, let alone a dvd or BR anymore. But I want to finish that. Either in my book form or ipad! And then move back into re-reading the first DRAGONLANCE novel, then the others. Then some TREK novels, natch.
3-Launch SECRET PROJECT X. Nuff said for now.
4-Work on new Graphic Novel I wrote. I have been gathering reference for this one like mad. Doing research on things I've never researched before. I sketched a cover and got some thoughts from trusted friends. The story is killer and a step up from what I've done before. Should start on pages soon.
5-Keep the positive mind frame I have now. Last week was a definite challenge to that. But I think I survived it. Proves I can do anything!
Okay, last thing to discuss:
Oh yes, the LOTR extended on BR. MUST BE MINE!!! But I love the Green, Blue and Red packaging on my current DVD box sets. I wish they had carried those over into that huge set. (sigh) Now I gotta choose. Do I like the packaging or the superior picture? I guess the picture wins out. But I don't know. Maybe the DVD version I got is fine enough. Maybe I need to see the BRs in action and compare too. Blu-ray.com gives the theatrical ones high marks already. Hmmn... Lots to think about.
