Thought I'd do a quick list of my top ten favorite Horror Movies in honor of Halloween weekend. No particular order:
-THE SHINING -- Come on. I don't gotta explain the brilliance of this one do I? Its just awesome.
-NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3 -- I always liked Freddy and I think this is the best of the series. You got Dokken doing the lead song. You got dream warriors. Very 80's feeling. I love this movie.
-EVIL DEAD 2 -- Absolutely awesome. No reason needed.
-DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978) -- I fantasize often about a zombie apocalypse and I for sure would go live in a mall. Perfect idea. Great social commentary. Excellent. I've visited the filming location of this movie as well.
-FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER (TV 1982) -- A bit obscure but I love this one. Stars Robert Hays, Martin Landau, Ray Walston (one of my all time favorite actors). The music is creepy and the house is equally as scary looking. Man I had nightmares about this movie.
-BLAIR WITCH -- Granted, over time it has soured but credit where credit is due it scared the fuck out of me the first time I saw it. I've since seen the movie it was ripped off from (The Last Broadcast). But at the time, it was scary as hell to me. The monster in my head fucks me up still to this day. Even scarier is the fake documentary on the movie. With the kid's drawings n'shit? AAAHRRGGGHHHH
-FRIGHT NIGHT -- A great 80's feel. Scary and the effects are great. And stars one of my favorite all time actors: Roddy McDowell. I haven't seen the remake yet.
-THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE -- Richard Matheson's novel come to life. Again, Roddy McDowell represents. I love this one.
-TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE -- Any fan of horror has to at least acknowledge how awesome this movie was at the time. Still holds up as balls out insane.
-DEAD ALIVE -- Must be seen to believed. Best part is the karate fight between the punks and the priest. "I kick ass for Jesus." HA!
