To be blunt, where we moved into in Lansing (Westfield Club Apartments) is not that desirable place to live for us anymore. We've had several issues with our nieghbors across from us. Loud partying, kids running around late at night, fireworks, cops called on domestic fighting, kids beating each other up outside our door, stuff being tossed at our patio window, them sneaking up and looking into our windows (especially my office), neighbors above us stomping around, rocks being thrown at our door, them sitting on the stairs above our place and everything they say echoing into our house, etc. A loooooong list of complains. We've called the cops, we've talked to the management about it several times and they say they can do nothing about it.
Next, the apartment has a severe ant problem and its gross. I've sprayed the hell out of the place and they still return. I don't even know where they are coming from. But the kid drops food sometimes and it attracts an entire legion of them. Very gross!
Lastly, they keep screwing up our records. We pay rent on time and a few days later, we get an eviction notice saying we never paid and they tack on all these late fees. We explain we paid and it always becomes a cat and mouse phone call game only to end up with a "Oh sorry, it was another apartment's problem. oops."
So yeah, I mean its a decent place. I think we just got the short end of the stick when it came to apartment choice. On a whim we checked out this townhouse about a mile down the road (in a quieter area I might add) and check out the outside:
Its a tad bit of adjustment as to how things will lay out but it is certainly doable. Its even $70 cheaper than we are paying now! The bots would have a real nice room and so would we, plus and extra in case another little Adam Talley Jr came along. We would have a backyard area and are allowed to have a grill and furniture. Its kinda "fenced off" for privacy. We discussed that we want QUIET, and they guarantee it. Newer carpet, furnishings, wood floor kitchen/bathrooms, new appliances, etc.
Only problem is that I will lose my office. But it will be incorporated into the living room area. So I will have to endevor to keep it clean, which will be a challenge. But I am looking to possibly get a whole new set up. Right now I draw and do my comp work on an L shaped table. I'd like an actual drafting table that tilts. And a new computer desk that isn't all markered on and scratched to hell. I've put this puppy through some hell over the years! Plus a new chair with great back support. Then we want to get a twin bed for the kid. The bed is the priority, natch, but I think we can do it.
So thats why I am doing the $10 commission drive. Please consider doing it. You are not only helping my family out but getting a nice piece of art from me, plus freebies for the absolute cheapest price possible from me. Sale Ends on Sunday. I means it. Act quick. I've already got several takers (thanks to you fine folks!!!) and there's always room for more!!
Also, don't forget my KICKSTARTER fundraiser for my artbook. We've got an uphill battle to gain funding for it but we certainly got a chance to make it. I am giving away a ton of stuff right now with all of this. Its a great time to be a fan of art and comic art!! :)
Thanks for reading. Time to go sort and pack... again! (I swear, my stuff has been in boxes constantly for the last two years now!)
