Yeah, its all over the net by now. Lucas is changing yet more stuff to the original trilogy. I don't mind a CGI muppet here or there. but this time he's adding a hated phrase from the prequels into the finale of Jedi, making Vader scream NOOOO!!!! and say NOOOOO before killing the Emperor. (spoilers) To me, the scene always worked the way it was. Cause you see the acting in the "face" of vader as he turns back and forth. you can almost see the machine bleed away from him as he chooses. To me, the NOOOOO is completely unneccessary. Why say, when you can simply SHOW. Thats the power of film.
But it is what it is, and apparently, Lucas is doing it. I had hoped it was a hoax but its not looking likely. So I decided I am not buying the BRs now. Just gonna stick with my theatrical editions. Not out of spite or anything. Just that I don't want to be reminded of this endless debate/debacle anymore. I am keeping my childhood memories pure. I am sure down the line they might release the theatricals in another box set, so I will wait. I'll see the deleted scenes online sometime most likely, or just rent the BR bonus disc somewhere. I got the EMPIRE OF DREAMS doc on disc, and thats the best of the best of the best, NOT INCLUDED on the upcoming BRs. Try to figure that one out!?!?! But thats okay.
Recently I've rediscovered my love for Star Wars, reflecting my childhood experience through my son. Yesterday I let him pick out some of his birthday presents. What did he choose? A lightsaber. A light up lightsaber. Star Wars is no longer mine. Its ours. And I am not gonna taint it anymore. I'm stayin out of the debate. I got MY versions already and I'm keeping them that way. Walk away from the fight I will. yes, yes.
So ya'll can get mad at it. And I totally understand why. I am just choosing to move on. Like Simon Pegg said online so elegantly, "I can't believe it still bothers me. It's like getting upset because a dead relative's corpse has rotted a bit more." True sir. Its a dead subject. It is what it is. Lets move on down the trail. The force is strong with us. Make it so.

In other news, my folks are up to visit us this week. Today is the bots' 3rd birthday. As I type this, he got me up at 3:30am. I am dead tired and he's moody as hell. Should prove an interesting day. ;) Maybe I'll fight lightsabers with him....
