Busy Week Diary.

6-8-12
I am deep in a dream about being at a grocery store buying supplies for the zombie apocalypse outside when I hear some banging. Eventually it wakes me from my slumber to find out that its bots kicking the door at 7:20. I am stuck in the dip of our ancient mattress and my back is stiff as a motherfucker. But I get up and get him out of the room. I lay on the couch a bit in an effort to stretch my back out. I decide getting some more sleep isn’t what I need so I get up and update blog/check online shit. I listen to some Joe Rogan podcast while working with my morning. Bots is on his Ipod listening to ABCs and episodes of Olivia. I text with dad and we end up talking on the phone for a half an hour about all things recent, and plans about their visit to keep the wife company while I go to Heroes Con. Gloria is sounding much better and her recovery is going great.
I get the wife up around 9:30 and we head to Menards to look for a possible light for me to fix the tank and some brackets to fix the crib with.  The light is a lost cause, so we opt to head to Okemos where we bought the tank to see if I can get a lead on a replacement. Once again, I feel all tired as hell, but I down an AMP drink and feel much better after a bit. We get to the Pet Smart there and at least find the company that makes it. So I will contact them when we get home. We head to Walmart and we get a new dresser for the kids room and other stuff. Then we head home. I contact the fish tank company to see if there is a way I can replace the broken light. Then the wife ropes me into assembling the dresser. That takes about an hour and change. I email back and forth with Shane almost pleading for him to come visit this weekend, but he declines.
After assembly is complete we decide to go out and get bots a TV and DVD player. So we head back out to Walmart and don’t find a lead there. Then to downtown Art Supply where I get a few Copic refills. Then to the thrift store and get bots a small 15” TV for $5. Its an older model but will do the job. We head to Big Lots and get him a DVD player as well and then realize we need an RF Modulator. I reckon that I should have one packed away in one of our boxes. So we head home and I dig through each closet trying to find it. After an hour of digging, we have no success. I figure it must have been tossed during the last move. Dammit! A replacement is $30, plus cables! Frak!!!!
I sit and watch Man V. Food on Netflix while I color the last remaining cards I had for the current set I am on. An hour and change later, I finish them all and the set is officially done!!! I take a much needed shower and update the blog. The wife gets the bots to fall asleep and I get an amaretto and sprite together, thinking it’s a booze night. I down it, but I just ain’t feeling it. Instead I am feeling extreme hunger, thanks to the Man V. Food marathon from earlier. So I broker a deal with the wife for her to go get us some Big Johns subs. She returns and we eat hearty. I am in the mood for some laughs so I opt for discs 1-2 of Seinfeld season 7. We sit and laugh for a few hours at the show that I haven’t watched for a good while, wishing I had watched it every day! Finally around 2am, we hit the bed and pass out to AVGN. A long but very productive Friday!

6-9-12
I get up at 7:20, hearing the bots kicking his door. Part of the deal of the wife getting us subs last night was that I’d get up with the bots yet again. I am very tired but too wound up to get productive again thanks to me finishing the card set from the day before. So I update blog, check online shit and start scanning completed cards to send to the editor. It takes about an hour or so cause there are a ton of cards! I get them scanned and make the invoice and package up the cards to ship back. Then I pull out the pots and pans and start peeling taters. I rack em up on the stove and start the chicken broth. After a while, she gets up and goes to Kroger for some odds and ends for me. I make the dumplings and they get home. We eat hearty and I pass out for a three hour nap.
Bots wakes me up and we all decide to head out to get stuff. We run to Radioshack and get some coaxial cables (I mistakenly get two instead of only needing one). I run to Michaels and get some markers and then get a slurpee. We get back home and bots is still restless. The wife and bots decide to go to Kroger to get some soda and other things, while I opt to stay at home in the nice air conditioning and get some stuff done.  I pencil some cards on the new set and pull more reference. They return and I go lay on the couch to watch TV with them. Eventually the Devils/Kings game comes on and we alternate between that and the Celtics/Heat game. During breaks I get up and start penciling more cards. Bots goes to bed around 9pm, and we watch the games till around 11pm. Then the wife hits the bed and I ink some cards and color about 4 of them while watching Seinfeld discs. Finally around 2:30am, I quit for the night and pass out.

6-10-12
Bots kicks the door at 7:30 and I get up and lay on the couch to watch cartoons with him. I nap it out inbetween shows and wake up for good by 10am. I make pancakes and eggs for everyone and the wife wakes up. (She always wakes up to the smell of when I cook good breakfast!) We eat hearty and they go play basketball in his room leaving me to update blog, put stuff on ebay and draw some more cards.
After a while, I got 5 sketch cards on ebay and then do some doodling on some sketches for a Heroes Con piece. Then I build a flyer newsletter to hand out at Heroes Con. The wife leaves for work and bots and I go play action figures for a while. Brian calls a few times and we talk. He tries to talk me into buying an old GPS unit from him. He hangs up and tries to get it to work.
I decide on a sketch and move to light pencils on the final. I get far enough and satisfied enough that I chance going to inks and colors on part of it to edge me on. After a couple hours I stop and look at it. Its coming along quite nice and I tweet a pic of it. I take a break and play with bots some more and get him to wind down for bed time. He passes out around 9:20 and I work on the Heroes Auction piece for a few hours. The wife comes home and we watch a disc of Seinfeld together before passing out around 1:30am.

6-11-12
I conned the wife into getting up with the kid this morning as I had done it more than a week solid now. So I sleep in till 10am. I got a massive headache that I attribute to lack of caffeine. We get dressed and head to Fed Ex to mail back the sketch cards and then to Culvers for lunch. I text and email with Shane all morning. Then to Walgreens for milk and then back home. The wife naps on the couch while I play with bots and do online shit. She then takes off and bots and I play Frisbee and basketball in his room. Then I take on a shelf re-arrange project that goes on all day in-between cleaning up bots’ mess. Not sure how the wife will react when seen upon her return. I call Jon (the K-Man) to ask his opinion on post Jedi Star Wars books. We talk and catch up for a bit.
I check the Heroes Con website and our table assignment has been announced. AA-37. Back wall facing out. Thank god! Much better placement than last time! I text Dean, only to get the sad news that he’s decided to back out of going. I understand his reasons and agree to buy his half of the table. I wish him well. I hope he gets better. I make a call to JJ to re-arrange plans and start deciding if I should fly out instead. I suggest to JJ that Mark Walters could room with us instead and he makes the call.
I put bots in the bath and dig through his two large toy boxes to gather all the Star Wars toys to put them in a separate box for storage. Then he goes to bed around 8:30, as I finish the great re-arranging project. Then I turn on the Kings/Devils game and its pretty much a blowout. The wife calls and says she’s bringing home Subway. She gets home just in time to see the last five minutes of the game and the L.A. Kings walk away with their first Stanley Cup. The wife heads to bed and I stay up watching the awesome documentary: “Star Wars: Empire of Dreams” while working on my Heroes Con Auction piece. I pass out around 2am.

6-12-12
I wake up around 8am to bots kicking the door. (He let me sleep in!!)  I get emails from Shane all morning and an email from Mark confirming he is in for Heroes Con! I’m happy for him because he was bumming on the idea of not being able to go. I still have to crunch the numbers to figure out what I am going to do. But at least the room part is taken care of.  I email back and forth with Shane all morning and update online stuff and blog. The bots wasn’t into letting me draw, so I spent some time with him playing toys in his room. After a while, he let me work on signs for my convention table. I spend time reading the online reviews of the new Rush album and determine I will get it when the wife is out of work. It’s a pretty boring day.
Finally the wife comes home and we talk a bit. We head out to Burger King for dinner, and then Best Buy for me to get the new Rush album. I drop them off and head to work dissecting the new disc. I get there and work the uneventful shift and head home around 2:30am. I pass out at 3am after tossing out a couple emails.

6-13-12
Bots wakes us up at 7:20 but lays with us an additional hour and change after that in our bed. I get up to check online stuff and toss out another invoice for cards I did. Then catch up on other various online stuff. The wife gets up and we head to the post office, then Fire Mountain for lunch (which tastes like artificial shit!). Then head to Staples for me to make some copies of a flyer and pricing stuff for my Heroes table. We get back home and price online printing for posters for the show. Figure another display on my table would definitely help!
We elect to head back out to find me a pink marker to help finish my auction piece. We go to Michaels, which doesn’t have what I want. Then to Hobby Lobby, which does, but I wait forever to obtain it. I drop the wife off so she can get her glucose tested and we also head to Disc Traders to get the bots some new discs. We get back home and I elect to forget the nap in favor of staying up to catch up on the million little things that are slowly sinking my Heroes Con appearance and other stuff. The wife and bots take off for Kroger for yogurt and what-nots. I chat with JJ on the phone and through texts, confirming the price of the hotel now. We agree on a price and lock Mark Walters in to be in our room with us. I get to work on a new poster for either a backdrop or a table skirt for the show. I get it done and send it to Walgreens for a nice discount on printing. Then I get dressed and head to work. A bunch of local managers are there to re-arrange the store once again. I stay busy and help get the store back in shape. Later on my break, I go to Walgreens and get my poster, which turned out quite nice! Anyway, we finish the shift, I drop off my co-worker and head home. I pass out around 3:30am after texting my parents, who are now on their way to Michigan for a long visit!
