Updates!

Hey folks! Long time no blog eh? Man I've been busy! Insane. Well, first off we've been shorthanded at the day job. So they've been scheduling me 3-4 shifts a week. I wasn't complaining cause frankly, the money was needed. Secondly, TONS of paid work and commissions. I'm still not done yet! Third, parenting woes. Little James started crawling this week. He's pulling himself up onto the couch and standing now. So its only a matter of moments until he's walking n'shit. My life is OVER! And bots has his own set of issues and challenges. It takes a lot to pay attention to. But I have been very productive and working hard. I am halfway done with my STAR WARS cards. But I need to have them completely done within the next 12 days. So I am really gonna rock hardcore on those this week. Also on a couple outstanding commissions I have going on.

STARSLAM adult webcomic is still going strong! We've entered into chapter two now, which introduces lots of bad guys and other story elements for the series. If you are over 18 and don't mind seeing penises, vaginas and other such things, go read my adult webcomics right HERE

As for con news note some new announcements: I WILL NOT be at Heroes Con now. Just couldn't swing the cash. So if you are going, have a good time. I WILL however be at WIZARD WORLD CHICAGO COMIC CON from Aug 8-11. Come out and see me in Artst's Alley! I'm a featured guest and its an honor! Also, new to the table... I will be at DETROIT FANFARE this late October! I'm splitting a table with my pal Robert Knight and we'll be promoting our "Tales of Sequential Mayhem" comics that we did together. Make plans now! Should be a good time.

I got word that my newest Graphic Novel, THE EXPENDABLES is done printing and in my writer/collaborator BRETT PINSON's hands.  I don't have any copies to sell here yet but soon I will. And I'll likely do a bundle where if you order the book, you get a page of original art from the book! Details coming on that soon. The series is complete and it was quite fun to do. I can't wait for you guys to see it!

I've been talking about it on my Idiothead.com Morning Show podcast (Available through ITUNES for free!) and I wanna mention it here. I've made the decision to take a mini break from art from August 30th-December. Meaning I will not be taking on much projects during that time. The only way I will is if the commission is major fundage and/or the paid gig is high priority for me and my career. Other than that, all production on everything else is taking a halt. I'm just burned out! But don't worry. Starslam strips are still continuing as I have a backlog of them. And in December, I am starting the finishing touches on some major books coming in 2014. Anna 2, the 20th Anniversary artbook thingie and the eventual Starslam collection. So just taking a breather for once. Hey, I've been going at this non-stop for 20 years now. Time for a mini sabbatacal!

And what am I gonna do during this time? Well, do all those little things I never get to do. Like go to bed the same time as the wife and get decent sleep. Spend time with the kids. Take a vacation. Watch flicks and TV shows I keep putting off. Hell, I might even get a used Xbox 360 again and play some video games. Whatever. Just live a bit! And then when I am refreshed, I'll come back to it.

So this isn't me "quitting." Not at all. Just a bit of a breather. But like I said, if you want a commission during that time, I shall consider it.

Oh, one last note on commissions: My rate is pretty low and it always has been. And I've stayed steady/busy with it. I barely charge for shipping, except when its overseas. So I have thought about it and decided that its time I raised my prices. So when I am going on this leave on August, starting then, my rates are going up. So if you want art at the old price, now is the time to get it going. EMAIL ME NOW if you want something done at the old rate. Cause in late August, the rates are going up. Its a good thing. My time is now worth a lot more than it used to be. I got these profile gigs and steady clients and work to thank for that. And don't worry. If you order multiples, I always still cut deals.
