Wednesday---Bots wakes me up at 7:50 and I got a massive
headache from my vodka buzz from last night. I come down stairs, feed him and
the kitties and check online shit. Baby gets up and so does the wife. Bots goes
on the bus and the wife heads to work. I put baby down for a nap and work on
cards while listening to Stern.
Later, bots gets home and baby wakes up. We hang out and
play all day and I watch some Deep Space Nine while inking on more cards. Then
baby goes to sleep, I keep working on cards. The wife gets home at 9pm and
takes bots upstairs for both of them to sleep. I work on cards and join the
Bigfanboy Livecast til 2am. Then pass out.
Thursday—Baby wakes me up at 7:45 and bots is awake in his
room already. We go downstairs and the wife even joins us! She heads to work to
key in a new employee she got. I catch up on internet stuff and clean up my
office a bit. Baby is whiny and moody all day (teething, possibly). Bots gets
on the bus at 11:25 and we head out to Charlotte, MI to a used book store I
love. I get a couple HC Trek and Star Wars novels and the wife gets an old
Stephen King. The baby takes a much needed nap in the back. We get back to
Lansing and I head to the old job at the strip club to keep a promise to my old
boss. I show them how to burn the DVDs, which I was the only one who knew how!
After a 30 minute training session, I depart with the wife and we head to
Barnes and Noble where I get the new Horrorhound Magazine (best magazine in the
world right now). We leave there and grab some late lunch at Logans Steakhouse
next door. I am good and eat a salad with my meal. Then stop off at Fed Ex
where I scan and shrink newer comic art I have so it will fit in my scanner. I
am nervous about dropping pages because I am sandwiched between an old lady and
a business woman and my art I am copying is hardcore STARSLAM sex scenes! But I
get away and they don’t see anything.
We get home and put baby down for another nap as he is being
moody. We spend some private time in our room and then just end up pillow
talking a bit like we haven’t done in a long time. Its great to reconnect like
the old days. My alarm them goes off to say its time to get bots off the bus.
Baby is still up so we decide to all head out to Sams Club to get some nice new
kitty litter. Bots gets home and we head out. At Sams we get the litter, bots a
new disc, apple juice and two seasons of TALES FROM THE CRYPT for cheap. We
head back home and bots goes to enjoy his disc upstairs. I get in my office and
scan some of the NFL cards, some commissions I have to color and new
STARSLAM/ANNA POCALYPSE pages. I resize, fix borders and get them ready for
coloring. By that time, its 9:30 and the wife has put the kids to bed. I stay
up late penciling more cards and pass out by midnight.
Friday—I wake up at 8:10am, the wife has already got up with
the kids. I check online shit and talk with Robert a bit about our upcoming
signing appearance in Dearborn, MI. I realize I got paid for a commission so I
make a list of art supplies to get and toy with the idea of buying a new art
table with my money. Wife puts baby down for a nap cause he’s teething and in a
bad mood. She naps too. Its up to me to put bots on the bus. After I do, I
decide to head solo into town to take care of some things. I stop at FYE and
get a $5 dvd, then the card store to get card cases for convention print cards.
Then I head to Staples where I get magnet paper and print some print cards and
a convention table sign. I call the wife and see if she’s awake to join me.
I head home and try out my magnet paper, which works great.
The wife gets baby and herself ready and we go to Okemos and shop in the mall,
not finding much. We eat at Sbarros and I chow on a stuffed pizza which tastes
awesome! We then head to Disc Traders, not getting anything. So we head home
and I buy a RUSH concert tshirt off of their site. The wife gets bots and heads
out to Kroger for some weekend food for him and us. I cut out my print cards
and put them in the new cases and start early packing for Detroit Fanfare,
which is 20 days away at this point.
Baby goes down for bed and I work on cards til 12:30am, when
I decide to pass out exhausted.
Saturday—Baby wakes me up at 6:40am and he’s moody as hell.
I stay up with him and bots till 10:30 when the wife wakes up. We all get
dressed and head to Fire Mountain Buffet for lunch. We eat and get back, baby
goes down for a nap. I lay on the couch, taking a break from drawing for a while.
I try to nap but it doesn’t take. Instead I watch Back to the Future 2, which I
haven’t seen in a long time. Then I update online stuff and send invoices to
people who won my AP sketches on ebay. Baby is moody all day and bots seems to
be not feeling that well. He curls up on the couch just watching cartoons and
playing with his ipod most of the day. I drop some flat colors on some digital
commissions and decide to work on a few print ideas I have laying around,
taking a break from cards (I’m in the home stretch on the current set anyway).
Baby passes out at 7 and then bots (amazingly) passes out on
the couch at 7:45. I transfer him to his room. He obviously doesn’t feel good
and needs a good night’s sleep. I work a bit on some new Starslam strips, shower
and then hit the bedroom to watch Tv. I skim between A Clockwork Orange, Star
Trek “Amok Time” and Deep Blue Sea. But then I see that 1931’s DRACULA is
coming on, and its hosted by horror host Svengoolie! Awesome! I had no idea we
got any horrorhost stuff here in Lansing. I watch an hour of the flick. The
wife comes home with food and we just lay in bed watching Dracula until I pass
out.
Sunday---Baby wakes up at 5:50am (GREAT!) and so I get up. I
hear bots in his room too. I guess that’s what I get for the kids falling
asleep early. I get online and see that the staples Copic marker sale is
apparently still on. I place an order and cross my fingers that it gets filled.
Then place another order for a lightbox that is dirt cheap. No idea if I will
actually get them, because the sale price is ridiculously low, it HAS to be a
mistake. But I am considering arguing the point to get the huge deal. I upload the new Starslam strip to the site a day early.
I watch the Lions lose (cause Calvin Johnson is out of the
game) and the Broncos barely take the Cowboys. The wife comes home and I pencil
two new Starslam strips. I get inks going as she spends time with the kids. She’s
going to be gone for the next couple days on a work trip to Philly. I take a
break and head to Walmart for weeks worth of groceries. The lines to check out
are long and I pride myself on being the only one not freaking out about it. I
hate people who complain about long lines. Yeah, it sucks, but it sucks worse
when you have to hear ranting about it. I get home and put away the things. She
gets bots to bed and I come upstairs and pass out dead tired from the long day.
