OOPS! Great minds think alike....

It was brought to my attention today that the covers to these two books look similar! When I saw this, my heart sank. I was unaware of Mr. Straub's cover being similar. What I can say is that I concieved this cover as a homage to STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE. Apparently, he was thinking the same perhaps.

In production, I was told that perhaps I could "paint" the colors to not be so prominant and rainbow specific, I.E. more blending. But I decided to forgo that and just stick with the flat colors, cause up till now that has been the coloring style of Pleasant Life. So I guess that decision made the two book covers look similar.

I can assure everyone out there that no harm or copy of Kris Straub's cover was intended, nor should be inferred. Both are simple homages to STAR TREK THE MOTION PICTURE cover as seen here:

In the final version of the Pleasant Life cover, there will be words on the bottom, so again, this will differ from the above. So, no harm done. Just great minds think alike I guess. I do not know Kris' work that closely at all, but I would venture a guess that my book has far more to do with STAR TREK than his does. His is a completely different entity.

THIEF!!

No, I don't think you're a thief. You came to it the same way I did. One of the Zortic books has a similar rainbow to it. I think the only thing that makes yours look like it's referencing mine is that there's three figures standing -- but I don't think you did it on purpose. If you left the cover as is I would not pitch any fits whatsoever. It is a handsome assemblage.
