A Whole New Approach

Well, Diet #8437 wasn't entirely successful. However I can safely say that my ability to make better choices for myself are intact. I've quit coke and I don't eat pastries, snackie cakes or chips anymore. I've basically dropped all soda for good as of yesterday.

Bad news (kinda) is I am officially back on coffee. I gave it up after college. I was CONSTANTLY drinking it. While I felt energetic, I read about the adverse effects of the caffeine, so I dropped it. However, I would wager its far less than the other crap in my life has done to me since then. So coffee it is. Sipping on some Folgers right now, in fact.

I've decided my new approach will be to avoid anything with "High Fructose Corn Syrup" in it. Do yourself a favor and go to Huffington Post and look that up. Also watch the documentaries called "FOOD, INC" - "KING CORN" and then finally "FAT, SICK AND NEARLY DEAD." The stuff they open your eyes about where our food comes from is staggering. "High Fructose Corn Syrup" (or HFCS) is a byproduct of the vast amounts of corn we raise now. Its in everything. I'd wager about 80-90% of everything in the grocery store has HFCS or any sort of Corn Syrup in it. Read about it. The body cannot break it down. Think about when you eat corn. It comes out the same in your poo right? well, same with this. The body doesn't know what to do with it. So it gets stored...as FAT! Also, they feed Cows, Chickens and Pigs this stuff and their stomachs are not able to handle it. They fatten up fast and it causes diseases in the cows. So they pump the cows full of antibiotics to counteract the POISONOUS effects of feeding them corn. Its disgusting. Puts me off eating meat for good. Almost. (sigh) I love me a good steak. But I am trying to research for grass fed beef and where to get it. Also, HFCS is linked to cause cancer. And they put this in your food. Watch FOOD, INC and you will learn all about it.

Everything from soda, hamburgers, bread and oils and prepackaged meals have HFCS in it. And its gross. No wonder us Americans are the fattest we've ever been. And its a poison in our systems. SO: My new approach is to avoid anything with HFCS in it. In fact, I am speaking out hardcore about the effects it has. I'm waking up to what I am putting into my body. If it says "CORN" anything on the label, I'm not eating it. I'm 80% corn at this point! Oh I am still gonna enjoy foods I like. but I am making them myself. I used to cut my own potatoes and fry them in veggie oil as a kid and I was thin. Big plate of fries and I didn't gain shit. For me, I think the big thing is soda. I've said and been told this time and time again. Soda is a heroin to me. But I've decided to take the lesser of two evils and just switch to coffee and water. Its certainly cheaper! And more filling too. And the energy. WHOOOO THE ENERGY!!!!!

So: No promises, no speeches to ya. Lets just see what happens. I think no matter what, this change in ideals will work to my benefit. My goal is still to drop 50-80 pounds by San Diego next year (July). I am interested to see how just cutting HFCS in a fat American's diet will do. Will that alone cause the weight loss? Or perhaps a combination of juicing as well? I intend to pursue all of it cause I basically have to relearn how to eat. And I'm gonna be a pain in the ass about it. I'll still go to Mcds. but I'll have a salad or apples. No soda. No more. No way. I quit. and if I drink one single soda, I want my dick to fall off. Teach me a lesson.

Yo. Coffee (or caffeine) ain't THAT bad for you if you keep it moderate. Coffee actually makes you feel more full when you drink it so one doesn't eat the whole time.

When I was on my diet I drank coffee too. Makes one pee more often too...
