All this week its been work, watch bots, get art going and then sleep. I'd catch 4-5 hours a night I think. Not too good. Some drama here and there from sources I'd prefer to avoid having any drama with. But I think it got straightened out. I got my son Cody this weekend. Then as a suprise, my pals Michelle and Matt came down for some late night cards and drinks. It was great to see them. I took the Codester back today. I watched him beat NEW Super Mario Brothers. Man can that kid play! I kept dying. That game is too hard for old fogies like me. Too much going on. Meanwhile he rolls his eyes at Galaga and Super C. Oh well, I tried.
Good thing is this week I got the whole week off till Saturday. I can participate in podcasts and enjoy a holiday week with the family. I'm cooking thanksgiving on Tuesday cause the wife works 2-1am on Thursday. We already got our large Turkey. It looks yummy when while its raw! I gotta get it out and thaw it later tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm cooking potatoes, dumplings and biscuits. A hearty carb filled Thanksgiving Dinner. Then we're gonna put up the Christmas tree and the rest of the decorations and then just relax for the day. Maybe catch up on podcasts and commissions. The sketch cards I am to work on should arrive soon as well.
We got word that our full old apartment security deposit refund is coming back to us in a week or two and so I am looking forward to getting this for my early Xmas present:

To be honest, I'm surprised. I never have been a Rush fan. Something about Geddy Lee's voice always got to me. It took me a long and circle route to get into them. I think it started with me falling in love with progressive rock drummers. Portnoy leads to lots of them, but most certainly traces back to Neil Peart. I got the Neil Peart drumming dvd a couple weeks ago. Very great dvd. And I think also part of it was a month or two ago I was watching VH1 classic with bots and the music video for "Subdivisions" came on. I've heard the song before but never really that closely. Peart's drumming and the synths are great in that song! I pulled out this burned copy I had of Rush CHRONICLES I got a long time ago but never listened to and started jamming to it. I've heard pretty much all the radio hits before of course. But this time I was able to look past the voice and look at the playing and the song structure. Much like Dream Theater. The band's singer is okay. But the musicianship far outshines it. Plus he plays that Rickenbacher bass, which I love the sound of. So with that in mind, I found myself really digging on Rush (FINALLY). I wanted to get all their albums. And as fate would have it, this box set is coming out. I've been itching to buy an old school CD set and dissect the hell out of the music, liner notes and lyrics and photos. This comes at the perfect time for that. The Nirvana and Floyd sets were kind of a BLAH and not a must purchase for me. I got the music, but didn't need all that crap that came with the box sets. (Pink Floyd coasters and concert ticket replicas? Who needs all that?!?!?!!?) And that new U2 Actung Baby set is the same. (Bono's glasses and a bunch of remixes I'll never listen to? no thanks) I want beautifully packaged and nostalgic box sets, liner art with remastered sounds. And it looks like this is the case with these. And best of all, all the music is practically new to me! I can't wait to get them and start on my RUSH journey! Best Xmas present to myself ever?!?!? We shall see. I'm definitely looking forward to it though. :)
Anyway, long story. I got 3 commissions to ink up and finish tonight and then more coming next week most likely. I finished 3 new webstrips and 2 Anna pages this week as well. See? I've stayed busy!!! Never doubt me. It seems my drought I was going through is over. I'm back baby. And I think it was the music that got my head back in the game. It gave me that "RUSH" I needed. Eh? Yes?
Have a week!
