Pins, patches, BONO'S GLASSES?!?!?!?! I don't need all that. Just give me the Cds, remastered with live tracks and demos, DVD making ofs and concert footage from that era and a nice booklet and I am happy. Same thing with the Floyd discs:

Coasters, Laminates, A SCARF?!?!?!!? (Gerald Scarfe! Get it? Those who know, know.) Again, I just want the disc content. I could even live without the nice booklet if I had to. I just want those discs!!! Gonna make me pay $130 for a bunch of stuff I aint interested in. I guess I need to examine indeed how hardcore a fan I am. hmmnn....
In other news, I ran across these photos of my old DJ booth on the campus of CMU in Mt. Pleasant. It was for Modern Rock 91.5 station. I spent an entire semester in there as a DJ. Type O's WORLD COMING DOWN came out around then and I played the shit out of that. I loved being a DJ. I was good at it too. Oh those were good times.

True story. I swear, absolutely true. I was DJing one day. My Girlfriend was in there with me and this dude came in with a guitar with two strings on it, obviously high and I saw a gun in his pants. He said he wanted me to let him on the air so he could sing to Angelina Jolie. (Mind you the stations' radio wave reach was only to the outskirts of Isabella County, not too far.. but whatever) My thoughts were "how the hell is he gonna play with only two strings on this acoustic?" Thats the guitar player in me. I gave my girl a dollar and said "um, go get me a pop will ya babe?" I did that just to get her out of the room safely so she could go call the cops or something. She ran out and I continued to talk to the dude. He was all over the place. For over 15 minutes. Just kept talking and talking. I started to notice cops walking around outside the glass of the booth. I knew right away they were looking for this dude. I convinced him that I couldn't let him on live, but I could take him to the office outside and record him there and then play the tape live. He's like "Oh you totally get me man! you understand!" He talked for another ten minutes about random shit and then finally left the room. The cops nabbed him within seconds. They came in and told me he was walking around campus, the campus newspaper got threatened by him and called the cops and they started looking for him. Apparently he wandered to the station I worked at. He escaped the hospital and attempted to set fire to himself. I don't know if it was drugs, psycho head or a combo of both (most likely), but he totally ran around like that for an hour or so on the loose. The gun was a squirt gun or was a pellet gun, I cannot recall. The station manager drove in and talked with me. He said I could go home and I said "nah, I wanna finish my shift." He teared up and said "I cannot believe your bravery and dedication." To me, I Wasn't brave. I just saw a situation and diffused it. It was nutty though now that I think back to it. It taught me that if I were ever faced with a serious situation like that, I could keep my cool and think a way out of it. I hope I am not put the test again like that. I made DJ of the month that month. I still got the certificate. But my career in Broadcast Arts later gave way to my passion for art and I went back into it. I gave up the path of being the next HOWARD STERN to be indie artist #8472. I don't regret the decision.
I wonder whatever happened to that dude. I hope he's okay.
