An update on all things ADAM...

Here's a run-down on the latest behind all things me and what I have been working on. Broken down simply in a question and answer form:

1-How Is Anna Pocalypse 2 coming along?

A-The book is being worked on every week. I am about 65 pages in which is pretty much the half way point, as the big fight takes about the last half of the book. I am at a part which is the "dark" part of the story and there's a lot of quiet stealth going on. But it has some good character moments for Anna. Then comes the grand-daddy of all fight scenes. I really want it to be like nothing no one has ever seen, especially from me. I have been re-reading a lot of Invincible lately and seeing the fight between Mark and Conquest or when the Viltrumite War was going on. It was epic and bloody. I aim to trump what was seen in that book. I really want to blow people away and make them go "holy crap, ADAM TALLEY did that?" Mass amounts of bullets and blood. Tanks and explosions. Wagnarian in feel. Its gonna be incredible. So I am still working on it. I am still hoping for a late 2012 release but if to make sure it comes out the way I want it to, that it gets pushed back to early 2013 at the latest, thats fine. I want it to be perfect. My Sgt. Peppers era type of book. And so far, its great and has been fun. But its getting to the meat of what I wanted to do with it. I think people will be stunned.

2-You announced a Pleasant Life sequel this last January (the 10th Anniversary of the series). How is that going?

A-Its still in story form. I dropped the method of writing a full script a long time ago and now write a basic outline and drop scenes or bits of dialog I wrote while thinking about it into the "script" that I use to draw off of. The book will contain two major stories, one larger than the other. It mostly deals with Morton and Lucas. Ted isn't in the book that much, as I hope one day to do something different with him. But everyone from the series makes an appearance in the book. It takes place after the events we saw in "What We Leave Behind," and college life is over, I will say that. I will draw the pages on smaller paper so I can scan and color it quickly. So I think 2013 is a realistic deadline for that book. Depends on how fast everything else goes.

3-Heard you are doing Sketch Cards now. Why?

A-Why not! I've sort of been transitioning a bit this year and taking care of a lot of things both inner and outer. I guess I am building a nice nest because the wife and I have a new baby on the way and we'd like to clear out some of our debt demons and get a "dream home" at some point in the future. Its something I've been thinking a lot about. Plus I have been working hard on my attitude and work ethic as well as overcoming depression. In late 2011, I had a period where for like three months I barely did anything. I don't even know what my problem was. I decided after talking with a few close friends to get back in the saddle and get working. And part of all this change is me being more open to new ideas. So when the opportunity to work on something new came along, (especially for resume bump and pay), I decided to try my hand at it. I've had the opportunity to work on some characters and properties that I love and do my own take on them. Its been great to work with all the companies that I have over the last few months. Some sets I can reveal and others are still hush hush, so I will just leave it at that. But its been great. A nice supplemental to my busy schedule. I feel honored when I am asked to do anything for anyone. Either a commission, a paid gig or anything. I try to see what I can do for it if I think I can rise to the challenge. I embrace more of the "why not" instead of the "Why" in my life now.

4-Where in the hell is that webcomic you keep talking about?

A-I'm still working on it! I have about 55 strips done. And I got about the next 100 planned out. It will be an ongoing thing. I just want to launch it when its the proper time and I want to be WELL AHEAD of the game when I do. Its not just a strip, but many strips, short stories and other things. I intend it to be a new direction. A "Hub" for people to come to the site and celebrate what is there. It is a work of pornography, that much is certain. But I don't want it to be a judgemental site. I want it to celebrate what I feel is a "sex positive" movement. Embracing what is a basic part of our human nature by poking some fun at it and doing parody strips and doing an ongoing story about superhero erotica. One of the things I think that lack about some of the other erotica comics I've read in like Hustler Taboo or Sizzle is that either the girls are caught at made to do things they don't want to. Its drawn rape and its not cool. Its not erotic or sexy to me. Another thing is these outlandish sex scenes that really have no context to be exciting to me. For me to be excited by a sex story, I have to believe it happening and to be invested a bit into the characters, their motivations and WHY they are having sex. So I am spending a lot of time to focus on that. Also, the stories are written in such a way that the women have the sex drive and the power in the story. Not that they are dominating anyone, but that women can feel free to express their sexuality without the label of being "dirty" or "Naughty." I hate that concept. So, thats what I mean by "sex positive." But there will be plenty there for everyone and IT WILL BE FREE!!! I expect once I figure out the web design stuff and the logistics of ad revenue and a steady schedule I will launch it. Probably late summer, fall time I am guessing... IF all goes well.

5-What about those books you said you wanted to write?

A-I had a horror book idea but I found out a recent indie movie had the same idea, so I had to scrap that. I started a book detailing my encounters with people while working in various adult stores and the sex industry in general. I am a few chapters in and I think that will be an ebook at some point. Probably early 2013. I'll use the new adult site I am working on to launch it too. Lastly, I want to re-publish my "IN THE TRENCHES" book and make it an ebook you can get through Itunes or amazon. I got a couple new chapters I want to write in it and a couple more interviews to do for it. But my main thing is to get the cards done and ANNA 2 out of the way first.

6-Conventions?

A-I decided that 2012 I should focus on two things: Myself & my demons and PRODUCTION. My demons being personal issues that I face and I would like to clear them up and be free of them. Its a personal journey and one that I am enjoying. I've never had a happier, clearer head than I do today. I learn to let the little stresses I used to give myself go. "Mental Violence" I call it. I just disconnect from it, while trying to not live in a vacuum. Its a thin line to walk, but I Am doing a good job of it now. Plus the wife and I are working on our debt situation and doing really good at it I might add! So there's that. But mostly I want to get shit done. Instead of worrying about the circus and spectacle of shows, I'd rather stay busy on producing new things and come out strong perhaps next year. But I do miss my friends and so I plan on going to Heroes Con as a fan and see everyone. I might be out for Free Comic Book Day as well. Gotta work out the scheduling on that. But mostly I am enjoying working hard on my stuff, paying off my debts, playing with my kids and spending time doing the things I love. And developing new and good for me habits.

7-What about other small projects you do? Outcast? Expendables? etc.

A-Off and on I will get to them. Outcast will be in book form and thats on the back burner for a while. Expendables #4 is through Brett and I haven't got a script for it. But I couldn't start on it right now if I wanted to. So maybe later this year. Lastly, I got two horror projects I am working on off and on. One is the Lingerie Party MAssacre one shot. I'd like to get that done by next year and take it to a few horror conventions. So thats still on. And I am working on a new Tales of Sequential Mayhem, which is an anthology book with friends of mine. This new one is going to be a tribute to the EC HORROR books of the 50's. Complete with fake ads for horror movies, x ray goggles and such. I am going to do a short horror story for that. It will be a nice welcome break and should be great fun to do.

8-Artbook?

A-That CHEESECAKE book is finally coming out late this month, early next month. I was waiting on the printer for that one. Thats my only artbook coming out this year. People can order it right here

9-Music?

A-Yeah, Shane dropped that he wanted to do a new Idiothead album and I am into it. I got a concept idea that would work good but I haven't been able to work on any music yet. Plus he's been busy moving his family back to Michigan. They just got into their house and are settled. I think we are meeting sometime in May or June and trying to record some stuff. I'd like to do some other music as a "score" to one of my books. Possibly ANNA 2, as a downloadable bonus if you buy it. We'll see what we got time for. But new music looks like its finally happening.

____

So there you have it. I'm busy, a lot on my plate. But I've never been happier. Now go forth and rock your world my droogies!
