Its amazing how much my life has been focused around these fish the last few days. I've done a lot of maintenance on their tank and have learned more about fish in the last three days than I ever knew in my entire lifetime. Still, my success rate hasn't been very good. We had high ammonia at first. I got tablets for that. I probably misdiagnosed my Black Moor as having Ich, but I think its a fungus or Bacteria infection. Both his eyes are cloudy now and he's swimming upside down and sporatic. Maybe he's sleeping, I don't know. But the worst was, while I was at work, one of the tropical fish died! And he was one of the more active ones of the bunch!!! What the hell? And still, no sign of the water frog. Yet another fatality.
So yeah. I'm off to a great stop at this thing. I am not swayed though. We pumped a few bucks into this thing and maybe made some mistakes. But I am learning and we're gonna get it right. From now on: No fish from Pet Smart! I think we got drive thru style fish. Preuss Pets all the way. You get what you pay for. Also: Keep cycling the water all this week. Whoever survives, will be in it for the long haul. Once we got the water going well then I will add more fish. But for now, ironing out the bugs and learning all I can. I'm sad at my two casualties so far. And hopefully I won't wake up tomorrow to find that my beloved Black Moor has joined them in that great fishbowl in the sky.
Its incredible. I've thought about these fish literally all day. ALL DAY. At work all I could think about is coming home to take care of my fish. What is my problem? Its just FISH!!!!!! Something has come over me. Is it good or bad for me? Time will tell I guess. I just love em. And I wanna be a good pet owner. I'm pissed that so far I am not doing that well it seems. OR... I just got a batch of bad fish from a crummy store and shoulda stuck with Preuss. Lesson learned. Avoid Pet Smart and their drive thru style pet service. At least where fish are concerned.
