Life Progress

Welcome back my friends.

There's so much bullshit going on in the world right now. Yet another controversy in comics (guy drew girl too sexy again... how dare they), politics basically imploding (she did/sad, he said/they wont/will) and man, I'm just tired of all of it. Really sick of it. Every time I plug in, I just get dragged down by whats going on out there. I'm better off when I have my head in the sand and I am far away from all of it. So I forsee another break from social media. I cannot trust myself. Maybe this time, it might stick.

I got stuff I'm working on anyway. I am starting a major fruit/veggie fast this week. Its going to be tough but it has to be done. I'm busy working on Starslam 3 stuff, Patreon stuff, writing things, sketchbook works and other creative outlets. At least those things can distract me and always make me happy. I've tapped back into free form thought, writing and sketching in my large sketchbook. Check it:

Its rare that I share my journal/sketchbook randoms in this blog so enjoy that peek. Some dark shit goes on in there. I've done those books since I was in high school. They are my therapy.

The work on Starslam 3 continues. I scanned a bunch of new pages (about 22) and got them ready for coloring. Here's a scene where Starslam and Tara begin some flirting while working out. Hmmm....

This past Saturday I had my last signing appearance of the year (or ever?) at Summit Comics in downtown Lansing. Some friends dropped by and it was good to see them. I sold a few prints and books and did a quick cover commission of Neegan for a book:

I haven't shared much about the upcoming Patreon campaign. But the work is in progress. Here's a SFW non-spoilery look at what I'm doing so far for it.

So that's the workload on the creative side. On the dayjob, things are ramping up to the busy season so I am looking forward to some major overtime (I hope). I need to save for several things for next year. Yet another move, and to get my boys jointly. I will need to buy furniture, clothes and other things to prepare for their days living with me. Little James is growing up so much:

This week they went trick or treating... Dressed as Superman and Spiderman! I won't attempt to tell them that such a team up would never happen in comics, but whatever! It seems like they had a good time:

James ridin' with his school crush.
Other than that, I am drifting through these somber days and trying to right my ship. I just gotta keep creating, keep ignoring the bullshit of the world, and get myself fit (mentally and physically). There's a lot of changes happening for sure. Its a scary time. But I will get through it like I always have. I have things to look forward to: My dad is coming to visit this weekend. I reserved my hotel for Horrorhound next year. I'm super excited about Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. Kitty D and I have already made our lists and checked em 300 times. That NES retro thingie is coming soon. I'm toying with maybe getting a PS4 at some point during or after the holidays. Maybe treat myself for the hard work on the dieting and changes happening.

As always, onward and upward... to ALL of us!

Long Lost Projects

Hey friends. Before I launch into today's blog: A reminder that I will be at SUMMIT COMICS in Downtown Lansing this Saturday for their spooky Halloween fest! There will be contests, free comics and more. I will be set up from Noon-4pm selling books and my final left over prints. All my comics will be $10 each and my 11x17 prints will be $5 each or 3/$10. Blowing them out because I want them GONE! I will also have some leftover original art pieces all 1/2 off price. Blowing it all out! Come and see us!

________________________________

Okay, I want to talk about LOST PROJECTS of mine. Stuff I've worked on or teased in the past and it just sorta disappeared. There are lots of projects on my plate right now. (Starslam 3, Pleasant Life 2, Porn Store Tell All, Short Story/Poem book, Erotica Shorts/Patreon, Horror Anthology) and I am hoping by late next year these things will all be done and out. Thats my goal. But along the way I've started projects and had them stop for whatever reason or another. I thought I'd share a bit of history with them and whats the "latest" news on them... if there is any news! Longtime fans might remember me discussing these. But for newbies, this is all new info. So you can see how busy I've been over the years with various projects. Let's run down these long lost gems and see whats up with them!

ANNA POCALYPSE 2!

History: After the tradebook for Anna Pocalypse was released in 2011, I immediately announced and started working on a sequel. It hasn't been released yet!

Current Status: On Hold. I have about 65 pages done for it. But it takes a lot out of me to do this type of book. Its so dark and full of gun play (not my strength) and I also lost confidence in my coloring skills that I just got burned out on the project. Plus at the same time, Starslam took off and became more successful, so I shelved this book and continued working on Starslam books. But I would like to finish this project someday. Maybe after the current books I have promised are done and out. I don't like unfinished business! Plus the story is too good not to be an official part of the "canon" on her story. It really is amped up to 11. Anna is a brutal killing machine. Lots of blood and gore in this book. I would like to re-work some of the pages I already have done for it and make it the best I can possibly do.

Outlook: Probable... after 2017.

THE OUTCAST!

History: While doing the final Pleasant Life trade, Adam was working on this story about a goth girl who can channel and control the manifestations of ghosts and make them do her bidding.

Current Status: Shelved. I was into this story big time and it was going to be my next launch title after Pleasant Life. But I let it get away from me. I have about 90 pages done on it. No shit. Another 100 or so and it would be a complete project. Unfortunately, other things have come out that share the same title or theme and it would need to be reworked to not be confused with or by the other things. It is possible and I do love the story... but it would need some work to get it back to a workable state. Also some of the pages would have to be redone and some characters changed. The story got too broad for my original tastes. I'd have to simplify it and make it easier to finish. Its doable but its not on my radar as a possibility right now. But maybe some day.

Outlook: Who knows... 2018 at the EARLIEST.

LINGERIE PARTY MASSACRE!

History: Announced and started on after Pleasant Life ended, I got about 5 pages into this and aborted it for work on Anna Pocalypse.

Current Status: On Hold for the moment but will come out in some form in the next couple years as part of my new horror anthology movement. I have other horror stories taking the front seat at the moment but once all that is done, I will definitely give this one some attention. The title alone makes it BEG to be finished!

Outlook: Probable... after 2017. Or part of a Horror Anthology.

WISE INTELLIGENCE!

History: Writer Ryan McLelland met Adam after reviewing Pleasant Life for Newsarama. They then collaborated on this mini series of comics about college students/frat boys growing up. Issue #1-2 came out but the rest didn't!

Current Status: Finished, but needs to be relaunched. All the art is done and it is quite possible that Adam and Ryan might put all the work together, plus a bunch of mini things from other artists (including a pinup by Stranger in Paradise's Terry Moore) and release it as one big awesome anthology. They are talking about it.

Here are some more pages:

A recent discussion on Facebook has generated some interest in the book and getting it completed and finally released. A Kickstarter may happen and get Adam's long lost tradebook out once and for all!

Outlook: Hopeful for a late 2016/Early 2017 release!

________________________________

So there you have some updates on some long lost comics I have done in the past. Hopefully they will see the light of day someday. I do have a few others I coulda talked about but nothing to show for them yet. File under: Someday.... before I get too old... or dead.

Hey! A new BANNER! I ordered one quick and it arrived the next day!! esigns.com - AWESOME!!!

I'm all set up. On 5 hours of sleep. We're both tired!

FCBD is all about the kids. I did lots of sketches of characters all morning!

Here's some of the artists who were on the morning shift. Who is that arsehole in the middle?

Not just Adam Talley, but THE Adam Talley!

I will be manning a table at the Motor City Comic Con this coming weekend, May 13-15th. I will have all my books (sans Starslam 2), original art (clean and dirty), pop culture prints and more! I will also have a show exclusive I will announce later this week. Something I've been cooking up for a while... a nice little show exclusive suprise. Hint: Its not a print! Stay tuned!

It is likely that I will not be taking commissions at the show. I'm just focusing on moving books and meeting people. I don't want to have my head down drawing all weekend. So come on out and see me! Lots to see and talk about. Speaking of which.....

FREE COMIC DAY SIGNING THIS SATURDAY!

It's that time of year again! This Saturday I will be signing and sketching at SUMMIT COMICS (Formerly Clem's Comics) in Downtown Lansing from 8-Noon, 2pm-5pm or so. For details on who will be there and what specials will be going on in the shop visit HERE - Some great guests and friends of mine will be there rockin' and rollin' all day! FREE SKETCHES for kids 12 and under! I will have all my books as well as pop culture prints and cards there. LAST CHANCE to get the cards! Cause after this weekend they go bye bye forever!

I will take commissions at the show but likely won't be able to finish them at the store. They will have to be paid for there and then mailed to you at a later time, as most of my drawing that day will be focused on the free head sketches for kids.

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY is a day where each of the major publishers prints a few comics to promote their characters or upcoming storylines and then gives them away for free! Its a great way to start kids reading or to sample a series for yourself.

So come on out!

Various Updates

Hello friends! Its been a great hip hoppity happy time here at Castle Adam. I got a ton going on that makes me super super happy lately. But I don't have time to really get into all of that right now. But I owe you folks an update on things in general, so I thought I'd write.

Progress on Starslam 2 is so-so. Coloring is 99% finished and I plan to get it in the can and start balloons this week. That's my goal. We're so close to getting this thing finished and out the door. I know you all are waiting. I'm just living some life at the moment. Indulge me.

Pleasant Life 2 is still on the burner somewhere. As is this horror mini comic thing I want to do. As is the porn store book I've been writing for years now. But the story ain't over yet!

I started a little bit of page work on a new GN. I don't want to say what it is yet. Doesn't matter because I don't see it coming out for another two years. So, to talk about it now would be a bit of me verbally jacking off... and I do that a bit too much. I just share this knowledge in the fact that I'm working on things and thinking about the future. More on this to come. In fact, here's the first page:

Hmmmm.....

This past weekend was EASTER and I got my boys to celebrate with me. They were the usual handful and got up at 4:30 in the am! I'm always out of whack when they come to visit me. My patterns get changed and it usually takes a day of recovery to bring me back to normal.

Me and My Best Friend.

Silly Butts.

For Easter Dinner I made some Pork Chops, Taters and Chicken Dumplings. James LOVES my dumplings!
Upcoming appearances have a little update. I will be back at Summit Comics (formerly CLEMS COMICS) in Downtown Lansing for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, May 7th. I don't have the times yet but I've already put my hat in the ring for a triumphant return! I am bringing the last of my print cards and I am hoping to get rid of the goddamn things. So they will be going for CHEAP! Bring yer quarters. If anything, it will give me laundry money!

Also don't forget I have MOTOR CITY COMIC CON coming up in May 13-15th. I hope to move all my prints there so I don't have to worry about the damn things anymore and I can focus on just books!

In June it looks likely I will be going to another Horror Convention, this time in Indianapolis. Its great fun to have a little vacation where I can go to a show and walk around as a fan and get drunk. And Horror Con crowds are a special breed. I'm finding myself loving it more and more. Hopefully look into a table at some next year. We'll see.

On the diet: I'm staying strong and I'm down around 15 pounds. I joined a gym this week and I am hoping to get a regular exercise routine going in my life. Probably late at night when I get out of work. Seems ideal. I went for the expensive one so I can go either to Saginaw Rd near my work or East Lansing/Okemos where my pals Dean and Mjit go. So I have options for gym buddies. Just gonna start walking then some weight training. We'll see.

I've boxed up most of the stuff around here, which frees up some space for my crap. I'm getting my own shit like plates, kitchen stuff and things for my eventual move to East Lansing. Its happening sometime early August. Official end date here in Grand Ledge is Sept. 1st. But I am hoping to be long gone before that. I need to buy myself some furniture for the place and I've already started making decorating plans. I bought some frames to make all my pictures hang and look consistent. Its exciting but a daunting task! I got a bunch of crap I am gonna get rid of, either sell on ebay or sell here on the blog. We'll see. Mostly books and stuff I don't need. Wish me luck on that! All proceeds go toward the "GET ADAM NEW FURNITURE" movement!

I feel like there are a ton of other things going on as well, but I think I'll just leave it at this for now. Thanks for coming back and reading! Enjoy the spring, my friends!
