-----  FREE COMIC BOOK DAY RECAP!!! -----

Wow! What a day! Summit Comics in Downtown Lansing had me back as a guest this year at Free Comic Book Day and of course, it was insane! I sold some stuff and people walked away very happy. I hope the kids enjoyed their books and we got some new blood coming up in the future! Here's some pics!

Hey! A new BANNER! I ordered one quick and it arrived the next day!! esigns.com - AWESOME!!!

I'm all set up. On 5 hours of sleep. We're both tired!

FCBD is all about the kids. I did lots of sketches of characters all morning!

Here's some of the artists who were on the morning shift. Who is that arsehole in the middle?

Not just Adam Talley, but THE Adam Talley!

-----  MOTOR CITY CON NEXT WEEKEND!!!! -----

I will be manning a table at the Motor City Comic Con this coming weekend, May 13-15th. I will have all my books (sans Starslam 2), original art (clean and dirty), pop culture prints and more! I will also have a show exclusive I will announce later this week. Something I've been cooking up for a while... a nice little show exclusive suprise. Hint: Its not a print! Stay tuned!

It is likely that I will not be taking commissions at the show. I'm just focusing on moving books and meeting people. I don't want to have my head down drawing all weekend. So come on out and see me! Lots to see and talk about. Speaking of which.....

-----  SNEAK PEEKS!!! -----

And of course, the work never ends! Here's a sneek peek at what's on my table.... (I ain't sayin' NUTHIN!)

Yeah... I think I've said too much already. TONS going on. More than you know!

Anyway, thanks for coming back. Make sure you check out the Kickstarter above! We're in the last 10 days of it! Keep it rolling!! See ya at Motor City.

FREE COMIC DAY SIGNING THIS SATURDAY!

It's that time of year again! This Saturday I will be signing and sketching at SUMMIT COMICS (Formerly Clem's Comics) in Downtown Lansing from 8-Noon, 2pm-5pm or so. For details on who will be there and what specials will be going on in the shop visit HERE - Some great guests and friends of mine will be there rockin' and rollin' all day! FREE SKETCHES for kids 12 and under! I will have all my books as well as pop culture prints and cards there. LAST CHANCE to get the cards! Cause after this weekend they go bye bye forever!

I will take commissions at the show but likely won't be able to finish them at the store. They will have to be paid for there and then mailed to you at a later time, as most of my drawing that day will be focused on the free head sketches for kids.

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY is a day where each of the major publishers prints a few comics to promote their characters or upcoming storylines and then gives them away for free! Its a great way to start kids reading or to sample a series for yourself.

So come on out!
Lansing, MI

Various Updatez

Hey friends! The Kickstarter is still going strong at over $2,200, which is a grand more than I asked for. We've still got 23 days left to raise funds! I just want more eyes on my work. If you know any ways to get more attention on my adults only kickstarter or want to review the book for your podcast or blog, EMAIL ME HERE

Meanwhile here is a video update on how we are doing and how you can help:

Meanwhile, life continues here at Castle Adam. Seems like a TON of things are rolling forward but not much to show yet. Living life, driving myself crazy with workload, sleeping sporatically and of course I fell off the diet for a bit. But I'm moving forward and just getting things done that I can. Here's some visuals:

Mutha Fuckin' DUCK!!!!! (I helped my pals Dean and Mjit move, and they have a giant duck. Had to rent a truck for it!)

After a long day of moving, booze and CAH is in order.

Dean pretends to be Cousin IT.

And of course, I hit the table for some artworking. What sort of Starslammy goodness is this??

The kids come visit and bots steals daddy's shirt... and his computer!

James steals daddy's party hat! You're far too young to get yer drink on, kid!

I'm making and editing videos for the Kickstarter and other things. Hmmmm.....

And I FINALLY am working on that personal project of dubbing some VHS tapes I have to burnable DVDs. This was STP Unplugged.
I got some busy, busy, busy weeks coming up with finishing up Kickstarter business and ordering/sketching in books, packing them, shipping them, commissions, etc. Then getting stuff ready for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY at Summit Comics in downtown Lansing. Then finally MOTOR CITY COMIC CON!! Man is it gonna be crazy! I'm really gonna be absolutely insane by the end of it all. Wish me luck.

Tons to look forward to. Tons of work to do. I better get rolling on it.

Maybe a vacation someday... sometime... somewhere...

But I'm happy, and that's all that counts!

Cheers, T

Various Updates

Hello friends! Its been a great hip hoppity happy time here at Castle Adam. I got a ton going on that makes me super super happy lately. But I don't have time to really get into all of that right now. But I owe you folks an update on things in general, so I thought I'd write.

Progress on Starslam 2 is so-so. Coloring is 99% finished and I plan to get it in the can and start balloons this week. That's my goal. We're so close to getting this thing finished and out the door. I know you all are waiting. I'm just living some life at the moment. Indulge me.

Pleasant Life 2 is still on the burner somewhere. As is this horror mini comic thing I want to do. As is the porn store book I've been writing for years now. But the story ain't over yet!

I started a little bit of page work on a new GN. I don't want to say what it is yet. Doesn't matter because I don't see it coming out for another two years. So, to talk about it now would be a bit of me verbally jacking off... and I do that a bit too much. I just share this knowledge in the fact that I'm working on things and thinking about the future. More on this to come. In fact, here's the first page:

Hmmmm.....

This past weekend was EASTER and I got my boys to celebrate with me. They were the usual handful and got up at 4:30 in the am! I'm always out of whack when they come to visit me. My patterns get changed and it usually takes a day of recovery to bring me back to normal.

Me and My Best Friend.

Silly Butts.

For Easter Dinner I made some Pork Chops, Taters and Chicken Dumplings. James LOVES my dumplings!
Upcoming appearances have a little update. I will be back at Summit Comics (formerly CLEMS COMICS) in Downtown Lansing for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, May 7th. I don't have the times yet but I've already put my hat in the ring for a triumphant return! I am bringing the last of my print cards and I am hoping to get rid of the goddamn things. So they will be going for CHEAP! Bring yer quarters. If anything, it will give me laundry money!

Also don't forget I have MOTOR CITY COMIC CON coming up in May 13-15th. I hope to move all my prints there so I don't have to worry about the damn things anymore and I can focus on just books!

In June it looks likely I will be going to another Horror Convention, this time in Indianapolis. Its great fun to have a little vacation where I can go to a show and walk around as a fan and get drunk. And Horror Con crowds are a special breed. I'm finding myself loving it more and more. Hopefully look into a table at some next year. We'll see.

On the diet: I'm staying strong and I'm down around 15 pounds. I joined a gym this week and I am hoping to get a regular exercise routine going in my life. Probably late at night when I get out of work. Seems ideal. I went for the expensive one so I can go either to Saginaw Rd near my work or East Lansing/Okemos where my pals Dean and Mjit go. So I have options for gym buddies. Just gonna start walking then some weight training. We'll see.

I've boxed up most of the stuff around here, which frees up some space for my crap. I'm getting my own shit like plates, kitchen stuff and things for my eventual move to East Lansing. Its happening sometime early August. Official end date here in Grand Ledge is Sept. 1st. But I am hoping to be long gone before that. I need to buy myself some furniture for the place and I've already started making decorating plans. I bought some frames to make all my pictures hang and look consistent. Its exciting but a daunting task! I got a bunch of crap I am gonna get rid of, either sell on ebay or sell here on the blog. We'll see. Mostly books and stuff I don't need. Wish me luck on that! All proceeds go toward the "GET ADAM NEW FURNITURE" movement!

I feel like there are a ton of other things going on as well, but I think I'll just leave it at this for now. Thanks for coming back and reading! Enjoy the spring, my friends!

FCBD and CAP CITY COMIC CON Wrap Up

Hey all! What a weekend! I worked both jobs, and then did TWO comic related signing appearances. I'm on 3 hours of sleep and super exhausted! But I'd remiss if I didn't take this spare 30 minutes I got right now and do a quick recap of my signing appearances this weekend.

On Saturday, I was at Clem's Comics in downtown Lansing for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY. I think this was my 5th year out for it. I set up around noon and was busy until about 4pm. I drew a crapload of sketches for people, sold a lot of cards and books and my voice and hands hurt after my shift was over!

Sketchin' is hard work!

My favorite sketch request: Spock and Kirk with tribbles. Much fun!

FCBD went great and I sold some good stuff. Thanks to Clems and their staff for having me out yet again. It was great to see everyone again and hope to do it next year if they'll have me!

Then Sunday, I went to the first ever CAPITAL CITY COMIC CON. Everyone on the staff was friendly and accommodating. I look forward to the show's growth as time goes on. But it wasn't bad at all! I made some sales, hung out with friends and got to check out a nice art collection! Here's a Mike Wieringo piece he had:

And of course I had the best table helper in the world...

After I sell books, sign all the boobies in the line up, I gotta get my interview on....

So yeah, BUSY weekend! And you know what else? At my night job I even squeezed in some page work on Pleasant Life 2! Here's a peek...

Thanks to all who came out to see me this weekend. Thanks to my pals for making it fun and special thanks to my booth-babe! ;)

Cheers, T

Hey Now!!

Hello friends. Typing out another bloggy blog from my late night gas station job via my iphone. Super technology to the rescue!

Things have been going okay. Im working my ass off at both my dayjobs. I never get a day off. Schedules change without notice and I rarely get to see those I care about. But its busy times for all right now. Im thankful I have a job at all to keep afloat. But I am actively looking for that great better paying dayjob thats gonna help me get and keep myself on my feet. It will come. Im applying to more in the morning, actually.

It seems like the last few months ive just been hiding like a hermit. I never know what day it is. Shit be cray cray lately. I was looking at dvd/bluray releases tonight at work and man am I behind on a bunch of shit. I never got to see the third Hobbit movie. I wanna see Whiplash and Birdman. I still havent seen all of season four of Game of Thrones, and only a couple episodes of the new season of That Metal Show. I know Louie and Maron are starting up again soon. Also the new Breaking Bad prequel, i havent seen any of it yet. Nor have I seen a second of Gotham. And I still havent seen any new Family Guys, Walking Dead or anything! Not having a TV sucks. But even if I did, im never home to enjoy watching anything. My GF and I watched "I Love You Man" the other night, purely just for the Rush appearance in the flick. I didnt get to finish it though.

Im proud to say I sparked her interest in Star Trek. We watched a couple together a couple weeks ago and shes watching the series on her own. I think she's in love with it. Another conversion successful! Things are going pretty well for us.

For Easter I had my kids over and I made a big ham and mashed potatoes. Little James is talking like crazy and Scotty had alot of fun on my computer. He's getting great at reading and writing now. He's kicking autism's ass!!

In comic/art related news, its official: ill be at Clems Comics in downtown Lansing once again for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY on May 2nd. From around noon-6. Come on out and see me! Also dont forget the GRASP COMIC EXPO in Grand Rapids in June. Im a featured guest and Ill be conducting a panel on sketch cards. How to get into doing them and collecting them. Should be a lot of fun.
Im lookong forward to it. Im currently on a couple new sets and so Im plugging away at those. And I inked four Starslam pages tonight at work. So we're still rockin' and rollin'!!

But anyway, I just wanted to touch base with everyone. When I get caught up on movies Ill let ya know what I thought of em!

Have a good week! --T

POTHOLES, PROGRESS and APPEARANCES!

Hello my friends! Just thought I'd post a nice Friday update so you can head into your weekend with good spirits and know that I am right along with you. I started drawing some commissions this week. I got them mostly done too! I would share them, but my printer is on the fritz. I need an ink cartridge or else it won't let me scan! And they tend to run around $30, which I don't have currently, so they will have to wait a bit. But it felt good to sit down and have a night of art progress. I got 11 Starslam books sketched and I did three commissions of an adults only nature. I'll share in the proper Deviantart website when my scanner will let me!

I'm gearing up for my first public appearance for the year this weekend! I'll be at the MSU COMICS FORUM again this Saturday from 11-5pm.

I will be set up in the artist alley once again along with many of my pals from the Michigan area. I'll have copies of my ARTBOOK, PLEASANT LIFE, ANNA POCALYPSE and maybe some STARSLAM if you ask nicely! I'll have art cards, original art and I will be taking commissions at the show and pre-orders. For info on where the show is, visit the official website HERE - They run a great show there and showcase a lot of local and indie talent. Come on out and support great comics and those who make them!

Later in the year, I am going to be a featured guest at the GRASP EXPO in Grand Rapids in late June so keep an eye out for that. Details will be worked out but its looking like I will be conducting a panel there. Not sure what about yet but we'll work out the details and I'll share the info with you fine folks. Just keep the idea of going in your mind. I'm likely going to do only one more show maybe later in the year, also FREE COMIC BOOK DAY somewhere. But all that has to be worked out yet. I'll let you know when I know!

So business is slowly returning to normal around here. I got some big things happening this weekend. Some things I'm really looking forward to. Good things all around! It feels good to get out there and see my old friends and make new ones! Saturday will for sure be an exciting day for me for several reasons.... I Can't wait!

In health news, I stepped into a pothole in a dark parking lot a couple nights ago and twisted my foot a bit. It really, really hurts! I missed a day of work due to it and I had to work yesterday with it at both jobs. I was in absolute agony at the first job. Luckily at the second one, I could sit down a lot. That helps. To make myself feel better, I baked myself some more banana bread. YUMMY! I got most of today off, so I am going to pack my old gear bag (been a while since I've used it!) and relax my foot. Hopefully its on the mend even more today and I'll rest up as much as I can. Stupid potholes!!

Its negative 25 degrees here in Lansing, Michigan after wind chill factor. Its been a goddamn cold February so far!  My space heater is getting a work out, thats for sure!

Anyway, just a general update on whats going on. Come out to the MSU COMICS FORUM this Saturday!!! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Cheers, T

FREE COMIC DAY RECAP

Hey all! Whew what a day! I spent my 9:30am-4pm all day at Clems Comics in downtown Lansing for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! This was my third year in a row and I always love coming out. Everyone is always very welcoming and nice and the kids are excited to get sketches and comics.

I was so busy at the show that I really didn't get to take many photos but I grabbed some from some friends. Here are some pics courtesy of my pals Cristen and Nick:

Again, a wonderful time. Thanks to all who came out to support local comic shop businesses and independent artists! Your money spent is more than just about buying a little cool thing to have. Its also putting food on my kids' table and keeping my lights on. I thank you. Also to Clem's Comics for allowing me back year after year and putting on a damn fun time. They really take care of us artists and we appreciate it. It was great to see friends new and old. Also a great pal dropped me off some great vinyl! YAY!

SO: With that, I have lots of materials to restock for my next trip: CHERRY CAPITAL COMIC CON on May 23-25th in Traverse City, MI. I got a couple new prints to finish coloring and do up for the show and other things. Also, I have got a slew of commission work lately, which is great. The wife and I talked about the recent murmurings of me possibly getting a part time night job. But with the increase in sales and freelance work, its now a reality that I am prolonging that decision. You guys all really came to my aid and I cannot thank you enough. Right now I have a huge TO DO list that is going to take me the rest of the month and thats great! My bills are getting paid and I am very happy! Thank you, Thank you!

In other news, I got my TALES OF SEQUENTIAL MAYHEM books and my PLEASANT LIFE books back from the printer! So I am filling out preorders and kickstarter orders and they will be going out next week. Bare with me as I got a ton of stuff going on. But I am looking over the books and goddamn don't they look dope as hell! THANK YOU for the support! and if you haven't ordered Pleasant Life, you can right HERE

Whew... okay.. I know I got a million other things to say but I am exhausted. Better cut this one short. Have a great weekend!

Cheers, T

NEWS GALORE!

Hang on folks! This is a lot of info to get through so bare with me!

First of all, this weekend is the big FREE COMIC BOOK DAY signing! I'll be at Clems Comics in Downtown Lansing from 11-? on Saturday the 3rd for FCBD. I'll have books, art, prints, sketches and more! Kids 12 and under get free head sketches! I also made 4 new prints that will debut at the show! Fans of Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Star Trek and Doctor Who will be pleased. Also some re-colors of old favorites will debut at the show. All show details are HERE - It really is a great event and family friendly too. Doesn't cost a thing to come get a free sketch and comics for the kids. Plus come to see the artists draw! As a bonus, my buddies Sherief and Daniel will be with me at the show and we'll be doing art on an exclusive print that will debut at Cherry Captial Con! Its TMNT related. I started the art and they are going to finish it and it will be a show exclusive! So come see that and buy some stuff from us! All funds I make will go to pay for my trip to:

CHERRY CAPTIAL COMIC CON! May 23-25th. I'll be there all weekend. Copies of Anna, Pleasant Life and my Artbook will be there, guaranteed. (unless I sell out online suddenly! Who knows!) Details on that show are right HERE

The latest sketch card set I worked on is out. Its called Pinups and Pitbulls. Its through Galan Art. For those who found me via that set and come here, welcome! I do have APs available from that set and from the previous set he did, called Contemporary Pinup Puzzles. The cards are NSFW and for Adults. But EMAIL ME HERE if you are interested in any of them. Some are blank and can be commissioned for whatever you want! I also have some promo cards from the set. Here's a pic of them:

Okay a break from the plugs. Here's my dog Poppy and I.

Okay, the BIG NEWS is that I got notice that my PLEASANT LIFE books and the ANNA REPRINT/REPRINT has shipped today! So I should have those next week and I will fill and ship orders by next weekend after sketching in all of them.

What is the ANNA REPRINT/REPRINT you ask? Well, after my review at Geek Life Podcast, I decided that I could touch up the colors on the first book a bit. I didn't want to go in and recolor the whole thing, but change the hue and saturation a bit. Also, I could fix a raised eye in some places. But as luck would have it, when I got the initial order of my books from Ka-blam, there were some mistakes in printing. Some cut offs, fonts not embedded and some damage in shipping. So, after talking with the agent there, they offered to reprint my order and I had to resubmit the files. So I took the opportunity to just recolor it a bit and then fix a couple mistakes here and there. So this is the REMASTERED ANNA POCALYPSE! And Ka-blam was gracious enough to let me keep the previous books as well. So I got double the amount! I mostly will be using the first order to give away and have as back stock and sell the main remastered ones.

Its essentially the same book but with minor color correction changes. Here's some page comparisons. The older page is on the left and the re-colored versions are on the right:

So as you can see, its a little less "out of the tube" of color. Which was the complaint in the first place. Hey, it was my first time ever doing a color comic! Not too shabby for that eh? But trust me, Anna 2 will have a completely different color pallate. I already planned on that. So anyway, both ANNA and PLEASANT LIFE will be in stock by next week. Got your copies on order yet? If not, what you waiting for? Order online right now by going to my online store right HERE

This week, I got hired to do some commissions of sketch covers. The intention is to do them through the CGC and get them slabbed and graded. Here's a couple I have finished already:

The clients are great to work with and I am pleased with how it is going. Sketch covers scare me a bit because some covers have an off glossy stock that don't take my copic markers too well. But I am working slow and steady to make sure I don't get those muddy mixes of inks and markers. Luckily so far I've been okay with it.

Hey, you are keeping up with the IDIOTHEAD MORNING SHOW PODCAST right? You better be! Loads of inside info there and its all free! Have me in your ears for 15 minutes 2-3 times a week! Click on link there or subscribe via Itunes. FREE!

Over at STARSLAM, things are heating up big time. We're now in the fallout of the events of the death of Draid and how its effecting things. But there will be no rest for our heroes as a major baddie steps up to the plate! If you are over 18 and enjoy adult related content in your comics, go read it right HERE - New page up every Monday!

Lastly, I've been asked a lot recently for commissions and I am ALWAYS taking commissions. Adult related and not. ALWAYS! Simply EMAIL ME HERE  and we can discuss what you need done. All proceeds go to feed my family and keep my lights on. Thanks!

Okay, whew! I think thats everything. Thanks for reading and thanks for the spike in website hits and downloads! I appreciate it! We're rockin' and rollin' in this big 20th Anniversary in Self Publishing year. And with these shows coming up, we're ready to take off!!!

Cheers with peace and love,
T

PLEASANT LIFE COLLECTION is coming!!!

Holy crap have I had a productive month of February so far! After the major derailments that happened in my life in January, it feels good to emerge from that and take that as fuel for actual work to get done! Books are at the printer, I've made convention plans for this year and everything seems to be falling right into place!

Currently: Anna Pocalypse (reprint of first trade with new cover) and Captains Log: ARTBOOK 1994-2014 are at the printer. I should get a proof for the Artbook this week and an invoice for Anna very soon. But this week I have been working on this baby:

Its a book that collects all four of the previously released (and loooong out of print) PLEASANT LIFE comics. Its a comic I started back in 2002 and ended in 2007. This collection puts all 4 tradebooks and tons of supplementary material and NEW material all in one big volume. It should be manga sized and look great on the shelf!

Problem I had for the longest time was that when I built the first tradebook of PLIFE back in 2004, I saved the files as PDFS on a couple old ZIP discs. ZIP discs are hard to come by in today's age. Its like trying to make a FLAC Mp3 off of an Edison Cylinder! I tracked down two different external ZIP drives and bought cords and software for them. Both didn't work in any computer I have access to, and no one I know has a ZIP drive. Its just too out of date.

So I was left with only one option. I couldn't scan the original art pages because many of them are sold off over the years to friends/fans and some are just lost. But I did have one copy of the first tradebook in my archives. (Luckily I am a packrat and save one of everything!!) So I ended up having to scan those pages and touch them up as best I could. They will look a little fuzzy, but in all honesty, I can live with it. This is art I did back in 1999-2002 when I was working on the book. I didn't have it in me to scan the old black and white comics and REDO the tones, touch ups and retype every word balloon. The temptation to change things and go all "George Lucas" on it would be too great. Not to mention it would be giving me quadruple the work to do. So I decided that this is good enough to work with what I want to do for it. Its not like this is an IDW Artists' edition or something. If I ever get uber famous, maybe I'll do that. But at this point I just want to get the book completed and out so people can have it and read it. Besides, it don't look all that bad!

On the left is a page I scanned and knocked up the contrast on. On the right is a PDF from book two which I did have on a disc. Check it out:

So see? Its gonna be okay. Hey, at least you'll have the comics and you can read and enjoy em.

This book will have all four trades, tons of supplementary material including rare stories, aborted webcomic concept pages, pics of the real people/places that inspired the story, sketches, a script from the old series, the "pilot" comic AMAZING BUD that I did in high school circa 1995, new artist retrospective/commentary on BUD and other things, various sketches and production stuff/products made featuring the characters and an ALL NEW (EXCLUSIVE TO THIS COLLECTION) bonus story! Yes, I am drawing the gang again for a little quick story to add to the book. So you can see what my art looked like in 1999 all the way to now! It will be fun to draw the old gang again. Looking forward to it.

This collection will be a great thing for me personally and I want people to have it and enjoy it. I'm working hard to make it the best I possibly can and something I can be proud of. Ever hear the phrase that you "can't go back in time?" Bullshit! I'm proving it by doing this, baby!

I hope to have this whole thing assembled and ready by May. I will do a pre-order on it for those who want one. All total it will be around 460-480 pages, all for $20. WOW!

Wish me luck!

STARSLAM is still rolling! Working on new pages this week. I'm in the home stretch of getting the first tradebook done, and I want it done before year end! YAY!

The Porn Store book and short story collection are being worked on as well, so don't worry. These things take time. But I haven't forgot about it. Just making the books I have DONE a priority for a minute to get them back into the online stores and for me to have at the cons this year.

Speaking of Cons, I'll be at the CHERRY CAPTIAL CON in Traverse City, MI on May 23-25th. I think I will be doing something for Free Comic Book Day but not sure where yet. Keep tuned in here for updates. And I will likely do some sort of con in the fall. This summer the wife is concentrating on playing music in a band again, so I want her to do that. So no June-July shows for me most likely. But around August/Sept I will be looking to get out and about to a show!

Thanks for reading!
