MOTOR CITY CON RECAP!!!

Hey everyone! I'm back from an EXHAUSTING weekend at Motor City Comic Con. Seriously, the busiest show I have ever been at there. Wall to wall, packed. It was indeed overwhelming. While lots of people I asked said, and I would agree, that doesn't exactly mean we came home with bags of money. We did okay. I didn't sell any books, except for the con exclusive Coloring Book. Mostly prints, commissions, original art, etc. Not bad overall! Here's a recap of my weekend:

THURSDAY:

Comedian Brian Posehn was signing at a local comic store here in Lansing. I got in there, got a poster signed and got out and headed to work. He seemed shy and/or jetlagged so I didn't bother him for a photo. But I got a cool screen printed poster personalized from him. Will go nicely on my wall someday. I went to work, took on the looooong shift and finally got home around midnight, took care of some last minute things and then passed out.

FRIDAY:
Woke up at 6:30am and made us breakfast and then we headed out. We got there quite early and set up. I ran into Brett, Jay, Kelly and a few other friends. Pals of mine from Lansing came out and scored some art and books from me too (Thanks Guys!) I did a commission for Jeff and went through the day just kinda tired overall. Sold fairly well. I made a note of a MST3K bot shop in the dealer area and promised myself that if I did well I would get one. So then we left, checked into the hotel, hit RED ROBIN for some much needed eats. Then back to the hotel, got our drink on and vegged out in our living room suite. Spending a nice night in each other's company. Passed out around midnight.

We're here!!!

Commission called for Silver Surfer with his dong flapping in the cosmos as he rode. Glad to oblige!

I think she likes me!

Enjoying some much needed spirits after a long con day!

TIKI!

Some cool art on the Wall of RED ROBIN made out of crayons!

Close up.

SATURDAY:

We woke up, grabbed coffee and bagels and headed to the show. Immediately we were floored with how busy it was! It would take you a half hour just to walk to the bathroom and get in there! We sold decently well and I got myself a treat I've wanted for a long time. Then to TGI Fridays for some post-con grub, then a relaxing dip in the pool. Then drinks with Matt until I passed out around midnight!

My pal Matt brought his nieces to the show, their first con! I Think they had a good time... although one doesn't like her photo taken, obviously!

I drew them both thier favorite doctors. Here's the 10th one. The Matt Smith photo was blurry.

Another pal from Lansing, Joe came with his daughter Sophia for a daddy daughter day. When leaving he asked her what the highlight of the trip was. She said, "Easily, seeing Adam by far!" Made my day!!

I drew Sophie a... whatever this is... from Minecraft I guess. Glad she liked it!

I've always wanted a robot and now I got one! Meet Tom Servo, who came home with me and now will help me get through all the cheesy movies... the worst I can find.... tra-la-la!

Together at last!
Together.... at last?? (ahem)

Playing with Colored Pencils.

More colored pencils. the NEW Pleasant Life cast! Who are the two people on the left? You'll see... someday!

Nice Ribeye steak at TGI Fridays!

Tom Servo is ready to party!!!!!

Chattin' with Matt over drinks.

A gift from Matt to me. NICE!!!!
SUNDAY: Honestly, I was beat. It was a busy busy weekend, so I was looking forward to a nice quieter Sunday. But boy was I wrong! Just about the same amount came through the doors as Saturday!!! Whew! But sales were better Sunday than Saturday. I barely left my table!

Commission for Matt, "FATPOOL." His idea. I dug it!

Loose doodles for myself at my table. I like it when I get to do free form, stream of consciousness stuff like this.

I don't get into Cosplay much, but you gotta give it up for this guy. Nice!

Best kid's costume hands down goes to this AT-ST. The legs moved with his legs!!!

On the way home, I introduced Danielle to White Castle. She approves and says we can go back.

A friendly reminder of how crazy the crowd was on Sunday!

So now I'm home. Safe. Final thoughts: I enjoyed coming back to Motor City after a long hiatus. I saw people there I hadn't seen in a long time and fans came back to say hi and catch up. It didn't translate to any new book sales though, but it was good to let them know that I am still kicking! I sold a lot of prints and art and that was good. I do say now that I am retiring the art prints for good and now am only focusing on books.... meaning that pop culture shows like Motor City aren't my crowd for that anymore. The times have changed and with it, I must change too. I had a great time and will return again someday, but for now, I want to focus on MY characters... not ones I don't own. And there are plenty of print people doing that stuff for me. I will visit in the future but starting in 2017, I'm gonna hit some small press shows. I would like to cultivate readers.

I loved the trip and it was a much needed vacation. I made some scratch and caught up with old friends. I had fans come visit that I met well over a decade ago at this show and it was great to reconnect with them. One fan, who said he is an avid reader of my blog said something that stuck with me: "Thanks for sharing your life with us." That statement alone, me hearing that, made my weekend. Thank you.

But for now, I'm reeling from the craziness of it all. I'm ready to enjoy some quiet! Gonna stay away from pop culture shows for a bit. But I might visit again someday!

Thanks to all who came out!

BIG SHOWS MAKE ADAM GO CRAZY!!!

ME TOO!!!!!
 Thanks friends. Onward!!

Motorhead/Anthrax Concert and STARSLAM 2 pics!

Hey friends. Coming off my last week at the gas station job and moving into the new graphics job. I start today and im pretty jazzed to get things rolling. I was able to take a night to myself and catch a concert with my pal Robert. We saw MOTORHEAD/ANTHRAX/CROBOT. It was a great show all around!

Opening band: CROBOT. I never heard them before and they put on a nice performance. The lead singer looks exactly like Russell Brand! (I'm sure he gets that a lot) They sound like a sexier, funkier Rage Against the Machine.

Anthrax takes the stage and immediately there is a huge mosh pit right in front of me. It was an intense performance. I've never seen anything like it. What I liked was when people fell in the pit, everyone scrambled to pick them back up. It wasn't about beating each other up or kicking someone's ass, but simple aggression release. It was great to see. Man, can Anthrax put on a show. Holy crap!

The mighty Motorhead takes the stage. Mikky Dee's drum solo was out-fucking-standing! The dude is a monster. And Lemmy sounded good, all things considered. He joked around with the band and the audience. Glad to see he was in good spirits.
I'm glad I went to the show. I met some cool people in line and chatted with a few others. Glad to see us old fogies of rock and roll still get along and still have an outlet for the music we like. I also saw some teens there moshing along. It was good to know that Metal still lives in the hearts of the young!

In the middle of me working, art on STARSLAM 2 continues. I just finished page #130 and I got about 15 more pages of art to go! Its actually grown bigger than my initial plans! But thats okay. As I was going along, I just found places that I could flesh out the story more and make each character involved have their own specific moments. There's lots of sexy time in the book and a treasure trove of pinups too! I'm gonna see if anyone wants to contribute a pinup to the book very soon. So if you are an artist and are interested in doing a pinup for the book, hit me up and in exchange, I'll give you a free digital download copy of the book and credit inside!

Anyway, here's a look at some of the more recent-ish pages:

Some enemies come back!

This is what you call the "Oh Shit" moment of the book! Wait till you see the next page!!!

Man Superior has his own unique journey this time around!

Round two of the biggest fight ever!

Possible cover idea?
All in all, its shaping up quite nicely. I hope to have the art done and coloring started come October 1st. Its gonna be a race to get things done, thats for sure. I hope to launch the Kickstarter around October, and have the book done in December... smut just in time for Xmas!!!

I suppose thats it for now. Don't forget to mark your calendars for October 16-18th where I will be at the GRAND RAPIDS COMIC CON! Its gonna be a blood orgy!

Cheers, T

In Constant Motion

Hey friends. Been crazy but I finally have a couple days off to myself. Scratching things off my TO DO list and yippie!! Yesterday I spent some more time with my kids. Brought them here to my house and they seemed to have a good time:

Scotty was happy to be back on his old computer again.

Lil' James is OBSESSED with brooms and vaccuums. So I let him play with my vaccuum all day.

It was great to hang with them. I wish I had more time to do so but between two jobs, I get like 4-5 hours of sleep and on my two days off from one job, I spend one with them and a few hours with my girlfriend or other friends. I keep applying for higher paying jobs so I can get a sense of normalcy in my life. Lets hope something comes along to where I can achieve that!

The diet is so-so. I haven't gained any weight but I have fell off the work out bandwagon after my foot accident. I need to get back into the saddle. I'm back to drinking caffiene too to keep me awake on those over night shifts. It sucks! But I'm dealing. Every now and then I'll treat myself to something new, like some hats!

I've always wanted to be a hat guy, and now I am. Thanks!

I also got a couple new albums. The new Marilyn Manson disc is SWEET! But I got the new Scott Weiland CD yesterday and holy bacon bits is it awesome. Its a consistant rocker all the way through. Check it out. Please! I hit GOLDEN HARVEST for breakfast again yesterday and my god.... HOLY SHIT are they awesome! Please check them out if you are in the Lansing, MI area. Best breakfast I've ever had. Literally. Worth the 45 minute wait outside. I'd go there daily if I could. I mean it. Check it out!! Turner St. in old town Lansing.

On the art front, I got assigned to two new card sets and I am still plugging away on STARSLAM 2 pages. I'm about 30 pages in now. Hoping to get some major pencils done this weekend. Wish me luck on that! I want to get this book in the can by the fall so I can Kickstart it and its gonna pay for my 2016 convention plans. New table, new books, new layout, everything! I'm also saving $ for a much needed vacation in May. Planning on going to Chicago to sightsee, see the art museum, aquarium, the High Fidelity filming locations and more. Really looking forward to it. I need a relaxing vacation after this last year! Much deserved, I say!

With all that, I don't want to bring the blog down, but I will say things in the news has really troubled me as of late. There's some fucked up laws being passed in Indiana and Arkansas and they are toying in Michigan with doing the same thing. How descrimination and prejudice gets lawful protection in this world is absolutely beyond me and we must rise up to stop it. So write to your congress representative. Get loud. Go out and protest. Go out and vote. Doing online fighting in Facebook feeds does nothing for it. Go where your voice will be heard. Vote these idiots out of office and demand a fair world. Also, be mindful of what the big corporations are doing to our food. The crap they put into our stuff to keep us sick, fat and dying is incredible. Watch the documentaries, eat healthier and wake up to what they are doing to us. It sounds like hippie bullshit, but I assure its not. Get loud, Get foolish and make your voice heard. Not just for us, but for our children too. Make sure they inherit a world that is good and just. They deserve better than living with our stupid mistakes.

(Off Soapbox)

Anyway folks, BUSY! Thats a good thing. Shit is lining up and getting done. My slate is starting to clear off slowly and I'm digging out of the pile. The little things to the big things. Its something we all strive to do. But its going well for me. Big and fun things are coming and I am beyond excited about it. I've got a smile on my face and great clarity like I've never had before. Things are going well. Base point: I'm happy. And thats a damn good thing.

So off I go into the world. Have a good week/weekend. I'll see you next time and I'll share some of my STARSLAM 2 progress!

Cheers, T
