Pre-Halloween

Hey friends!

Its been a stressful damn week. I had a panic attack even. Just A LOT to get done and the OT at the day job is here! Plus home woes (Fleas, Furnace... all of which I discuss on the newest Podcast)... But I am making progress. Got some commissions done this weekend, got stuff boxed up I need to mail to various places and all the USA Starslam mailers are out. I just gotta work on the overseas ones this week. All the paperwork is filled out for them and they are ready to be mailed out. Thats what I will be doing this week.

Also I spent some time today grabbing more Xmas presents off my list. (I'm striving to get all my Xmas shopping done before Nov 11th... just because!) I have also dug through all my tubs, toys, comics, books, games, etc and gathered stuff for the Nov 11th TOY SHOW in Okemos, MI that I will be set up at. I'll sell my old shit and my comics and art there. Should be a good time. A different vibe than a comic con. Much needed. Plus I need to be rid of some crap. If I make a little extra scratch for it in the meantime, why not!

In addition to finishing things off the TO DO list, I am working on the other new stuff I need to do.

Like this:

Recognize any of that? Those are some of my earliest comic work! They will all be scanned and collected into a book for next year's celebration of my 25 years in self publishing. I'm just gonna scan em and see where I can get to after that. Maybe a kickstarter? I dunno. Its old shit. Its honestly HORRID to look at. Does anyone want to see that? We'll see I suppose!

Cute kitty sitting on my kid's car seat!

Anyway, nothing new beyond that.

Ramping Up

Hey friends. Taking some time from a busy and very productive week to check in on some various things.

First of all, the Kickstarter for THE EROTIC ZONE is less than 20 hours away from its end. As it stands, we got funded and hit one of the stretch goals. I couldnt be happier or prouder of its success! It didnt hit the numbers of its big sister: STARSLAM, but it did well on its own and got lots of new readers interested in what Im doing in the world of erotica. I work hard to write and draw sexy stories with substance, where all the characters have a brain, a spirit and a soul... much more than just a sexy body that serves the needs of the person in the story who fucks it. What I do isnt just a bunch of fuck books. I keep reaching to hit that deeper level. I hope you folks enjoy it.

The money earned will go to pay for printing/shipping and what is left will help pay my colorist for STARSLAM 3 and other things. I really appreciate the support. The book order will go out on Monday morning and I will begin prep for all the things to come.

Meanwhile, I cracked the pens open on my new card set this week. So far, I am very happy with the results! I cant share yet, but when I can, I will! I really need to stay on top of these cards this month because the time frame in which they are due is short. But so far, its going smooth!

I am taking the time to smell the roses around me a bit, in an effort to keep my stress levels in check. My GF and I are watching THE IT CROWD on a nightly basis so I can finally scratch that show off my list. I like it so far. Also, THE ORVILLE continues to be the best STAR TREK show on tv. I know some dont want to try it for fear it is too Seth McFarlanesqe... but please, give it an honest shot. Its very STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION and orgasmic Trekking. I have given up on ST: DISCOVERY, and from what I am reading, its a good thing I did. Maybe they will turn it around, but I am trying to avoid negativity right now. So thus, I avoid DISCOVERY.

I had hoped to play some SNES today but we lost power for about 5 hours, so I drew by cloudy sunlight. Its back on now, thank the lords, so I am just catching up on TV and other things. All this week I have been checking minor things off the big TO DO list in my life. It feels good to stay productive. So many great things are on the horizon... its an exciting time! Im just ramping up until it all comes to fruition!

Anyway, I thought I would just drop a note catching up a bit. Here are some recent pics:

Some of my finds out and about this week. I was pretty happy about the inbox Black box NES game for $2!! Box is in considerable condition. But looks nice on the shelf. Its a goal of mine to have all the original black box NES games complete. One day...

My new acoustic I got from Jacob. I look forward to writing some new music on this bad boy. I havent given it a name yet but I will consider options. You gotta name every guitar you get!

The boys in their Halloween costumes. DC/Marvel crossover!
Thanks for coming back! Its about to get REALLY busy in Adam~land. Lets hope I can keep up with it all!

The Juggle

Hey friends!

Its November. How did we get here?? Seems like only yesterday it was January and we are now in the homestretch of the holiday season. Weird! Once again I didnt get to do hardly any of the stuff I wanted to do during Halloween. We were going to do a Tales from the Crypt marathon and I think we only made it through seven episodes. A lot of the old classics didnt get watched, but we watched a few new ones dating back to September. We did go to a costume party and that was fun, but mostly we avoided the candy and just worked at the jobs. Seems like the spooky season really came and went quickly. The boys went trick or treating and from the pics I got it looks like they had fun. I of course had to work... next year Im going to see if I can take a half day so I can join them. But it looks like they got away with lots of sugared booty.

Now we turn our attention toward Thanksgiving... which we already got an honorary start on this week. Craving a big meal, I cooked a baked ham, potatoes and dumplings to munch on all week. This year we are spending the holiday with my girlfriends parents and we damn sure arent doing any Black Friday shopping. So we will be at home getting things done and decorate around the house. Then glorious Christmas... a holiday I really have grown to love since my leaving the cult of the Jehovahs Witnesses 24 years ago. Its the last Christmas of my 30s. I plan to enjoy it with the boys and D.

Meanwhile, I am going to be busy as fuck. The Kickstarter for THE EROTIC ZONE ends in three days. Then I have to place orders, get mailers, address envelopes, sketch in books, do commissions, trips to the post office, etc. Also this month Im on a huge card set and I gotta get those done by December 1st. (I hope to get a jump on them this weekend, we will see!) Not to mention its starting to ramp up at the day job so I will be getting overtime very soon. That is good because that money earned will be going to a few necessary things next year like our new apartment, new car, a potential vacation, etc. And in addition to all of this, working on STARSLAM 3 and the other thing which will come in January I think. More on that later.

So yeah, lots of juggling. I better quit verbally masturbating and get to it.

Cheers, T

LIVE MY LIFE

Hello friends.

We live such crazy lives. Everyday something comes along to take us down. So we try distractions to keep our heads in sync and attempt to stay sane. We all have our little things that do this for us. While all around us, violence, wars, racism, sexism and other disgusting things occur. I'm not a voice to tackle those things beyond my own back porch, so I will not attempt to try. There are others more qualified to do so.

What I can do is work hard to provide distractions for myself and for you. I want to remain a place to come and be entertained and fuel the thoughts and concepts preaching that life is good. Life can go on and it will all be ok.

Personally, I know there are things coming up that I am looking forward to. In August, I am moving back to East Lansing for a year. Shortly after that I am due for another raise at the day job, where I will celebrate one year of being there. Having a home (especially when I love the day job so much) is such a welcome concept. In September I am going on a (gulp) camping trip. Well, sorta. There is a drive in showing a whole weekend full of exploitation horror movies and we are going to go and camp out there all weekend and get drunk with my new friends. I'm really looking forward to that.

I've been enjoying new movies on Netflix. Stuff like DEATHGASM and I AM THOR. I'm ramping up excitement for GHOSTBUSTERS. Not so much the reboot movie, but all the stuff coming out with it to promote the brand.

Like light up Stay Puff and the Animated Series re-release. Maybe I can finally get my kids to watch a new cartoon at my place!

And lookie what my girl got me! A whole case of ECTO COOLER! I haven't had these since the late 1980's. Today I took my first sip. It was like my childhood come back to greet me again!

I got a free movie ticket to see the GHOSTBUSTERS movie if I want to. I might. Cause why not, right? Chase the whimsies. You never know what good might come out of it.

Yes, there is a new STAR TREK movie coming too but I'm not that excited about it from the trailers. But hey, we get one. And we get to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of my favorite sci-fi franchise ever. Plus a new STAR WARS movie not too long after that!

And then in October: Halloween is always a fun time for me. I've got my eyes set on getting even more decorations and probably throwing another party at my new place with friends. Thanksgiving after that, where I always cook a huge meal for the kids. Then of course, Christmas... which I am enjoying more and more with each passing year. There's so much to look forward to.

...oh yeah.. and FOOTBALL!

I get to spend time getting to know my girl better. We're working on building a future together and that makes me happy.

There are other things to look forward to. Excitement will abound as I build the new concept and keep it up and running. Putting pencil back to paper and warming up the Microns and Wacom Tablet again has me excited. After a couple months break (where I didn't even know if I WOULD come back), its good to know that I have come away feeling refreshed and ready to tackle new challenges.

Every day I am presented with a new problem. Something trying to take me down. Something to get depressed about. Something to be angered with. Its never going to stop. I've accepted that, finally. But what I can do is strive to make TODAY the best I can make it. Remember the past, live for today. And maybe the future won't be so bad. As I find a way to make room in my life for every little thing I want to do, like and enjoy. I'll just simply: LIVE MY LIFE.

Its what we all strive to do, right?

So as much as I am angered and mad at the world for what seems to be going on daily around us, and how the idiots seem to keep bubbling up... we cannot let it distract us from our happiness. We have to continue to live our lives. We have to keep moving forward.

Because there is so much good to see and do in this world. Join me won't you?

Halloween Weekend - Monster Bash Recap

Hello my ghosts and goblins! I hope your weekend was fun of epic spooky fun! I had quite the weekend myself and I thought I'd make ya a nice recap. Here we go:

Here I am set up at MONSTER BASH 2015. I always look good in fake glasses for some reason. At least, Anna Pocalypse thinks so!

On Friday after work I set up at the Monster Bash 2015 party. We watched Night of the Living Dead and parts of Nosferatu. We had tons of booze, tacos and spooky fun! It was great to hang out with some new friends and just chill and celebrate with some costumes!

Misty rocked a VELMA from Scooby Doo!

"Where's the killer? I think I need a clue!"

My costume ended up being a sort of LEATHERFACE inspired murder guy. Best I could do at the last minute. Still, I had some fun. The fake blood I sprayed on my shirt the night before dried and ended up looking pink! Yuck.
We left around 11ish and got home and drank some more. Pre-game for Halloween I say!

Saturday morning, Misty treated me to some breakfast at this place called the Soup Spoon in Downtown Lansing. I love a good breakfast!

Green Pepper, Sausage & Onion Omelet! Hellz yeah!

Outside the Soup Spoon is a graffiti wall you can chalk on. The first line is a misty joint. Mine is on line three. Sorry about that... HA!
I didn't take any pictures of the night but Saturday night we had a big Halloween bash of our own at my house. A few of my close friends came by and we drank and watched Rocky Horror and Fright Night while tossing down some CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY. I got severely, severely drunk. I don't remember going to bed. All in all, a good night!

Sunday, I nursed a mother of a hangover. But I got my kids and enjoyed their company!

Immediately, the boys raid our candy pumpkin.

For Halloween, Scotty rocked a STORMTROOPER and James was SCOOBY DOO! Man have kid's costumes come a long way from when I was a kid!
Overall, a great weekend! One I surely needed. With Monsterbash over, that concludes my 2015 convention/public appearances. I thank everyone who had me out and also checked out my shit throughout those times. I will be hitting the road next year, albiet in a few NEW places. Details to come later on that.

2016 will bring many new things in Adam-World. A new STARSLAM. PLEASANT LIFE. a few new comic surprises and even this...

I was in contact with Shane this week about my continued interest in doing another IDIOTHEAD album. And we've got a potential cover and concept. Once my plate is cleared after the winter, I am gonna be itching to do some recording. Looking forward to it, and all that 2016 has to bring in my world. Finally, the world is gonna see what I've been working on! You're warned!

Much love, T

Things to Come and COMMISSIONS for GR CON!

Hey friends! Its been a draining couple of weeks for me. But that will soon be fixed. I have decided to go down to TWO jobs instead of three. My days as the "manager" of Cap City Reprographics are coming to an end and I am now full time at my new graphics job.  After almost 10 months of 16 hour days, I am ready to slow down a bit. However at the new job I will be working a ton of overtime. So it will be very similar, but I will not be spread as thin and it will help me focus on the job more.

The new job is a "career" job. One that I am more than ready for. I am used to just barely scraping by with two jobs to make a living wage. But this one... I quite enjoy it. The environment is professional and the people are great. The job itself is challenging but I am doing quite well at it. Who woulda thought it took me until my 37th year on this planet to finally get a "real" job! HA! Anyway, I am very happy with my choice and I'm glad I found the place. I look to have a long career there from this point forward. It pays my bills, feeds my family and I am able to start thinking about things I need for the future. For the first time in my life I have actual health insurance, a 401K... you know.. ADULT things! Wow. And now I will also have a bit more time to focus on finishing the art projects I have on my plate. Best of all, I will have a steady schedule to see my boys. It started that way back about a month or so ago and its really working out nicely. We all need steady schedules in our lives. And a healthy sleep pattern isn't anything to scoff at either!

How I got through the days of 18 hours of work at 2-4 hours of sleep, I'll never know. NEVER AGAIN folks... NEVER AGAIN.

But work for me is getting ready to ramp up big time. First up I got the Grand Rapids Comic Con on Oct 16-18th. Word is that tickets are almost sold out for the show, so it is going to be insanely busy there! I am now taking pre-orders for commissions to be picked up at the show. I do not do commissions at the shows anymore so if you want anything from me, you'll have to grab it now. To see info and rates, click HERE and if you are interested in ordering, email me right HERE

Also is the launch of the Kickstarter for STARSLAM 2!!! I started really drilling down on the coloring of the pages this last week and I got only about 10 more pages of art to go. But I'll make my deadline. Right now its looking like the Kickstarter will launch toward the end of the month, with the digital copies available in December, and the print versions in January... very similar to the last time. The book will be around 160 pages and its wayyyyyy awesome! I can't wait for you all to see it.

After that, its full speed ahead on Pleasant Life 2. I'm already 40 pages of art into that, and it will be in black and white, so less work digitally. It should go smoothly. But I hope to have that done in time for convention season next year. No Kickstarter for that I think. Just release as normal. Maybe a book tour. Who knows...

Also sometime next year I will finish and release my first full novel about my porn store work experiences. And MAYBE I will release my short story/poem book too! We'll see on that.

Also in time for con season will be a new pinup book: VINYL GIRLS! Pinups of girls with music and vinyl records in theme. I have the pieces all drawn, they just need to be colored and a cover done for it. (See, I've been busy!!!)

And I'm still planning on launching ALL of my comics digitally in various formats before the end of the year. Look for a big push from me for the holidays. Perhaps a holiday sale to boot!

Lastly, I will continue to work on Star Wars cards in between all of this. I am on a set right now, so I still have to finish that before the end of this month.

So... TONS of stuff is coming off the burners and will be released to your hot little hands!

____________

As far as personal life, things are going quite well. My girlfriend and I are doing this October horror movie challenge and showing each other favorite horror flicks the other has never seen. This week I showed her EVIL DEAD 2, which she dug. I also showed her some BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD, which she also dug. Up next is her pick: The CONJURING. Somewhere in there we gotta check out THE BABADOOK. And we'll keep up the horror watches all month. I am getting excited for the holidays. Some Turkey, taters and asparagus is all in my head. Yummy!

All things are well. Thanks for checking in. Great ready for the things to come!!

Cheers, T

Lonely Week pt 2 (Getting Back in Gear)

Hey folks. So begins week #2 of the wife being gone and I'm the main man in the house. I've spent most of my weekend working the day job, sleeping when I can and taking care of poor little Scotty, who battled the flu. I had a bad stomach virus on Friday/Saturday as well. I also spent times keeping the house clean, and cleaning up surprise messes like this:

Yeah, some laundry detergent spilled. Great!

I'm getting excited for the holiday season. So much so that I already decorated the house a bit for Halloween. James helped out too...

I forgot to mention that I did a show flyer for my pal Corey's band NAGAZI. You can see them at Rubbles in Mt. Pleasant coming up this Sept. 20th.

But finally after weeks and weeks of domestic bliss, I am getting back into the swing of production. No more am I doing minor things about once a week. I am kinda getting back into a groove. It feels nice. This week I dropped some flat colors on Starslam for the eventual Kickstarter. No timetable on that, but its coming. I gotta say, I re-looked over the pages and it really came together quite nicely. I'm very proud of the story! So I got about 70 pages to color there and then recolor the first 70 pages. Then letter the last 70 and its all done after formatting. So, its by no means done. But on its way.

I've also been able to do some sketch cards here and there. I showed some of my Return of the Jedi 30th Anniversary card set cards a while back but I didn't show off the prop close ups of the cut outs of Ewok fur and Jabba's Sail Barge pieces I got to draw on. Here ya go:

I finished one MARVEL CARD set last week. (sorry I cannot show pics of those yet) And this week, I got my next assignment...

Spoilers of things to come!!!

Anyway, I'm on another Star Wars set, then two more Marvel Sets after that. I signed all the contracts today in fact. We're rolling. So HOPEFULLY somewhere in there, I can keep up with my shit too. I'll likely do some days on cards, some on writing, some on coloring. The next three months I hope are filled with HEAVY PRODUCTION out of me. And we'll see what I emerge with come January. I've got no shows till next summer most likely, so the focus is all on getting my shit done and off my TO DO list... which is massive and intimidating. I also have minor plans for side projects/books to do in-between all of this. I like a lot of pots on my stove, folks. I think with as crazy as 2014 has been for me personally, you'll see an immediate explosion from me in 2015. Sexy time explosion. Lets hope I can emerge triumphant.

Lately, I have begun to feel like my old self again. Reconnecting. Making new plans. Taking care of shitty business. And while life keeps throwing more shit my way, more bills and surprise expenses...etc, I yell back loud at the universe to say I'm still standing here. Keep throwing it at me. Give me what you got!!! You can't take me down, fuckers!

Anyway, no timetable. No limitations. No grand promises. Lets just get to work.

Cheers, T

Juggling Act

Heyo! A bunch of updating type of things for your mind-grape.

Halloween happened this past week. Since it was raining we took the safe road and went to the local Mall where the stores were handing out candy. Scott-bot 2000 picked out his own costume:

And since James T can't talk yet, the wife and I picked out something appropriate for him:

I've been busy working on commissions, writing stuff and trying to finish the mountain of things on my plate. The next three months are HEAVY production months for me. (So much for the sabbatical!) And I'm not complaining. It pays my bills. Right now I got two smaller card sets on my plate, plus some odds and ends for another one I did work for this last summer. That same company wants to make a comic book with me featuring a major historical literary character. So I pitched them a concept and a few story outlines and they loved them. I finished the main outline and some dialog in a script last night and sent it off for approval. I will probably start pages this next week or two. We're planning on a 4 issue run if all goes well. Its a paid gig and its gonna be awesome!

Beyond that, I've done regular commission work and writing when I can on the three books I plan to release hopefully next year. A couple of them, for sure. So expect A LOT from me next year!

STARSLAM continues! Every Monday, a new perverted strip is uploaded. Adults only. Read it at the adults only part of this site if you are over 18 and are into such things. I'm wrapping up art on that project so that I can launch a tradebook next year as well.

ARTBOOK: Some might not have heard but the original printer backed out of printing it. I understand their reasoning. But I got another printer in mind for the gig. I'm talking to them this week and hopefully the books will be printed and in your hands by Christmas.

PODCAST: The idiothead morning show podcast continues! Subscribe and download via Itunes right HERE -- and please make with the comments, subscriptions and downloads. It all helps fund the podcast, which is available for free. Thank you. Approaching episode #200!!!

Meanwhile when I am not working on these millions of things, this is who monopolizes my time:

James is walking now and into EVERYTHING! A real hand full. Also Scott and his autism is a constant challenge. We're working with doctors to get him the best care. He has little improvements every day and I'm excited to see that. But I will admit some fatigue does hit me hard.

And, if all of the above wasn't enough, the boys and I are planning and working on a TALES OF SEQUENTIAL MAYHEM #3! I started the art on it this week. Here's a spoiler page:

Its an EC HORROR COMICS tribute book just like the last one. Likely we will launch a Kickstarter for it in January. Look for it soon.

2014 20th ANNIVERSARY TOUR: Its shaping up. I'm 100% confirmed for Cherry Captial Con in May. Then I'll likely hit Motor City Con after that. Then maybe either NYCC or San Diego as a fan to pass out flyers and meet editors. We'll see what I can swing. I'd like to do a book signing or two at some local stores. We'll see.

Anyway folks, thanks for checking in. TONS going on. Lets hope my 20 years at this juggling act works out and I can keep these balls in the air. (Not MY balls, but the balls being various things... I mean... ah.. you know what I mean.)

My Halloween Factoids...

Tis the season and I thought I'd put down a few of my personal Halloween factoids. Read and Enjoy:

1-Number of times I've went Trick or Treating? TWICE. Why? Well, when I was very young, we lived out in the country, no neighborhood to go door to door on. My parents weren't into driving me to a town to do it in. So I was out. The first time I trick or treated, I dressed up as RAMBO and went door to door on Halloween Eve. Dec. 30th. Yeah for some reason, my aunt Kay made me and my cousins go out on this night instead of the 31st. We got tons of puzzled looks from people and some didn't even have candy yet. It was embarrassing. The second time was the following year. I had an ALF mask and went door to door in our new town of Shepherd, MI. It was a crappy costume. My dad took me trick or treating and I could tell he wasn't into it at all. In fact, I think he hated taking me. The following year, my family joined this cult religion known as "Jehovah's Witness" and I wasn't allowed to celebrate any holidays anymore. Thus ended my trick or treating days. I was nine years old.

2-Favorite Halloween Candy? Kitkats.

3-Things I've dressed up as for company work days: Dante from CLERKS, Kevin Smith, a CLERK from Moobys, a Preacher. Its been a while since I've dressed up beyond that. Last time was 2008.

4-Top ten VAMPIRE movies for me:
10-From Dusk til Dawn
9-The Satanic Rites of Dracula (Hammer Horror)
8-Love at First Bite (yeah, I said it)
7-Vampire Hunter D (Anime)
6-Nosferatu (1922)
5-Dracula (1979 Frank Langella)
4-Shadow of the Vampire (2000)
3-Fright Night (best 80's flick ever)
2-Horror of Dracula (Hammer Horror)
1-Dracula (1931 Universal)
5-My top 10 favorite horror flicks:
10-Fall of the House of Usher (The TV movie version with Robert Hayes... creepy!)
9-Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors
8-Sorority House Massacre 2
7-Plan 9 from Outer Space
6-Friday the 13th part 6: Jason Lives
5-Psycho
4-Jaws
3-The Legend of Hell House
2-Dawn of the Dead (1978 version)
1-Evil Dead 2
6-I absoluetly DESPISE being scared. Like those fake youtube videos where you see a screaming face come out at you, or going to a novelty haunted house where people are hiding to jump out at you. I cannot take it. I'm afraid I'll get a heart attack anyway. I love horror movies for their filmmaking aspects and themes and all that. But not to be scared. Not at all. So if you ever get the chance to scare me, don't. You'll lose a friend. I get that pissed.
7-Scariest flick I ever saw? The Blair Witch Project. I saw it in the employee screening at the movie theater I worked at. At the time, we bought into the hype that it was a real found footage thing. I was freaked out beyond belief. And that night I had to drive home, where I lived... in the woods! And a cat ran out and hit me in the legs as I climbed up my porch stairs, freaking me the fuck out. I still have a hard time thinking about what the Blair Witch looks like in my mind. The fake doc that goes with it, where you see the child drawings of it? FUCK!!!!! The movie itself obviously doesn't hold up and we know the tricks now. But still, at the time, I was pissing myself.
8-Despite my upbringing, I have a real affection for classic and slasher horror icons and would love to do a straight on horror book someday. I've done EC comic horror tribute anthologies and am working on another one. But, I would love to do a one shot horror book. I started one a couple years ago and plan to finish it someday. I've also wrote a bunch of horror short stories which will be released next year in a short story book I am planning.
9-I've never handed out Halloween Candy. I want to. Can't this year because its going to rain.
10-I've never been to a Halloween costume party. I want to. I want to put on one. Someday.
11-I've never carved a pumpkin. Yeah. Never.
12-I used to take only baths. Then I saw JAWS when I was about 5 or 6. Then I started taking showers only. I never wanted to sit in a body of water again.
13-My favorite Halloween special: The GARFIELD HALLOWEEN SPECIAL. Man the cartoon ghosts in that were scary.
