I'm so Quiet here lately... what gives?

Hey friends! Someone asked me why I keep this site and why there isn't as much activity here as there used to be. Well, I am now on PATREON!

Not on my PATREON yet? Consider joining my community there! You get exclusive blogs, podcasts, and comics launched there first, including my sequel to my slice of life comic PLEASANT LIFE that will be available for all reward levels there starting at only $1 a month... (Less than a soda!). At $8 a month you get monthly erotica comics, process/making of the comic, sexy pinups, sketches and more! At $20 a month you get all that plus a monthly single colored digital commission. (Half off my normal rate) and you get an exclusive confession blog where I share sexy stories that I personally know about! We've built quite the community there and that is where I mainly do business. The money helps me keep the lights on and I appreciate everyone there. They get ALL THE THINGS~! Join us:  https://www.patreon.com/ADAMTALLEY

Also, did you miss out on one of my Tshirts for Starslam? Get it and others I have done right here at my TeePublic store:  https://www.teepublic.com/user/phymns - They also have coffee mugs, art prints/wal hangings, pillows, phone cases and more. This is my official indie comic merch store and I do get a % of the sales. So rock your favorite comic creator's art in your life and say loudly and proudly, "I SUPPORT ADAM TALLEY CAUSE HE ROCKS!" I appreciate it!

Lastly, email me anytime at: phymns@yahoo.com -- I answer everyone and welcome thoughts, critiques and just general friendship. You following, chatting with me isn't an interruption of my life, but the purpose of it. I thank you all.

In other news, I got the proof copy for STARSLAM RETURNS in the mail:

So once off the UPS truck after printing, they will go out to all the Kickstarter backers. I will have NO PHYSICAL COPIES left to sell here. But you can get a digital copy at my Gumroad page: https://gumroad.com/phymns

Also in Late March/early April I will be launching another erotica collection on Kickstarter called "LATE NIGHT SHORTS vol 2!" So watch for that!

I am on another sketch card set for Dynamite comics. I am not sure if I am allowed to say what it is yet. Just know that I am not done doing sketch card work. In fact I have a few blanks left available for commission. Check it:

Email me at phymns@yahoo.com for your interest and details. Asking $25 per card.

Lastly, I am stopping all open public commissions at the end of this year: Dec. 31st. After that, no more. Retired. Patreon only. So take advantage now! Here's my commission rate and rules: http://idiothead.com/COMMISSIONS.html

Thank you all for your support. Find me on PATREON! PLEASANT LIFE sequel drops there starting next month... Only $1 a month. JOIN US!

Mt. Pleasant FANTASTICON Recap!

Hey friends!

I'm back from a whirlwind of a vacation/convention appearance in my old hometown of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan! Its time for a recap of how it went down:

Every time I return to the old haunts, I have to take a stroll down memory lane and see what I remember, what remains and what is gone for good. I stopped through Shepherd and saw my old childhood home. Then we drive to downtown Mt. Pleasant and saw a few old places of note... like the BIRD BAR & GRILL... my old bar! (and also featured in the pages of my comic, PLEASANT LIFE!). Right across the street is the old WARD THEATER. A place where I worked and closed shop on back in 2001. Then of course I had to stop off at JON'S COUNTRY BURGER. All necessary stops when I am in town and full of memories! Here's an image dump:

We got to the Soaring Eagle Casino on Friday and chilled in the jacuzzi a couple of times, while sipping on some vodka and Mike bottles. On Saturday I reported to the FANTASTICON show floor and set up... but not before stopping for a breakfast pastry!

"mmm.... doughnuts..."

Iz VIGGO!

Two in the box, ready to go!

On Saturday I stayed steady. I didn't get pics of every commissioned sketch card but here are some TMNT ones I did for someone:

I did a lot of cards for some really kind folks. But most importantly to me, I sold a lot of books! I sold out of my copies of STARSLAM 1-2, ANNA POCALYPSE and I was down to only two remaining PLEASANT LIFE books! Not a bad problem to have indeed! I also got rid of some original art and bacon bookmarks! I had a really good weekend, sales-wise... thanks to everyone who came out and supported!

It was a smaller show and more intimate to deal with people, which I prefer. Only downside to me was that the panel "room" was on the show floor and the speakers were right behind my table, behind a curtain. So sometimes people talking or music playing got so loud I couldn't hear anyone in front of me. It was a pain in the ass, but I dealt with it.

I ran into my brother, my old pals Shane and family, Jon K, Matt & Michelle and my brother stopped by and hung out for a while. And that was just a few old friends I saw. Many more stopped by and I made some new ones as well. That is always the highlight of these shows for me!

So now, I am safely back home. The dust has settled on another con appearance. Thus ends my "25th year anniversary in comics" celebration. Its been a long, strange trip, folks. But so rewarding. I'm glad to have spent it at home. But now my mind turns toward what is next. I finished the page art on STARSLAM 4 and I am beginning the new PATREON stories. Plus a new graphic novel after that. So much to keep rolling on! I cannot wait for what is to come. You'll hear all about it soon, I assure.

To be a part of it, the best way is my PATREON PAGE (Click here). You get monthly exclusive blogs, podcasts, pinups... then there are reward tiers to get monthly erotica comics and then even monthly digital commissions for 1/2 price of my regular prices! Its the best way to keep up with me as my updates here on Idiothead.com are sporadic. I invite you to join my community I am building over there. All new stuff goes there first!

Thanks to all who came out to FANTASTICON and who took the time to stop by. I'll miss you until next time. Love to you all!

Finding some calm in my storm

Hey friends! Thanks for reading, I appreciate it.

Well, the Kickstarter for STARSLAM RETURNS ended on Friday and we pulled in around $3800, Which is awesome! It really tried to shoot for the moon with this campaign, since STARSLAM 3's numbers were so high. But I suppose many factors came into play and I couldn't capture lightening twice. Once I pay my colorist and pay for printing/reprints on older books and shipping, I will have a tiny bit left. That's not to say that I am upset about anything at all. I'm very grateful for the old fans that came back and all the new ones who joined in on this journey. Starslam has become a very important part in my life and I am glad she has such rabid fans! She certainly is fun to draw!

Now comes a few long months of finishing production on the book, getting the colors and letters done and then printing it. I am hoping it will all be done by December as I promised. I'm hard at work at that and other things to keep it all afloat. So excuse me if I go radio silent for a while. Just means I am busy getting things done.

I took a much needed vacation this past weekend. We went to Muskegon State Park for some camping and a celebration of my girl's birthday! It was very therapeutic and relaxing all around. It has been a rough year for both of us for various reasons. So glad to finally get away for a couple days and just detox from all the bullshit with some great friends!

So now I am home and I have two big TO DO lists I need to get going on. Lots of commission stuff, prep for the upcoming FANTASTICON Mt. Pleasant, a card gig I just signed up for and about a million other things...priority being to get STARSLAM RETURNS out the door. Its going to get very busy for me real quick. The good thing is I am staying ahead on PATREON stories and things are going good there.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I will be back with some good news soon about FANTASTICON. I'm hoping this good streak keeps up. I need a win this year man... big time.

Thanks everyone!

Announcement

Well, I'm back posting here again.

I still have my Patreon, which you can find right HERE, but I decided to keep Idiothead.com more active as well. So basically I am doing both. Here's how its going to work:

---I will continue blogging, promoting and podcasting here at Idiothead.com AND my Patreon. My Patreon will get the content (and extra content blogging-wise/podcast-wise) FIRST. Then it will post here. This site will NOT be getting the monthly erotica comics content, nor the process pencils/inks and bonus comics content that I post at the Patreon.

So basically, if you come here to good ol' Idiothead.com, you'll see my blogs again. I think I am uploading all of my Patreon podcasts to the old podcast page here.

Why am I doing this? Well, to put it simply, cross promotion.

Yeah, I'm creating more work for myself. But I think the ends justify the means. Promoting myself to a paywall has only got me so far. The Patreon is basically new monthly and specifically themed content. While Idiothead.com promotes my history and ALL my content. NSFW and clean alike.

Next year is my 25th Anniversary in self publishing and I plan to do some big things. Surprise content, new books, some appearances, etc. I need to be open about the process of promoting that and my work.

So yeah, if you liked the old blogs (all archived here) and the podcast (idiothead.com morning show), its all returning here. But to get the FULL ADAM EXPERIENCE, I strongly suggest the Patreon still. You get monthly new erotica comics, process posts, podcasts first, extra podcasts and blogs that won't be posted here, sketchbook peeks, downloadable bonus comics, unreleased comics and more. Join my Patreon HERE

For now, Idiothead.com is up and running again. I never left it. I repaid the licenses and domain name fees. Its mine. I own it. So why not use it as a tool? Never hurts, I say!

Anyway, we back. Onward and upward.

SAD ADAM WONDERS WHY YOU HAVENT COME TO PATREON YET!!!!!

Hey.

You.

Yeah you.

Why you coming here?

I know. Ive been here for 13 years. Old habits die hard. But I told ya friend. I have moved my entire empire over to my PATREON PAGE.

If you arent there, you are honestly missing everything.

In the last month I have posted over 24 different things. Blogs. Pics. Process pics. Upper level sneak peeks at my stuff. Full download links to comics. My new podcast: THE NAUGHTY SAUCE and so much more.

You are missing it. You can have the basic plan for only $1 a month. You get the blogs and the podcast for that. Pay a bit more and you get the comics. Pay a little beyond that and you get stuff NO ONE ELSE will ever get. It all goes to support me and what I have worked so hard for the last 24 years. It feeds my kids. It puts food on the table. It keeps the lights on. It helps me buy pens and toys. It helps me pay for internet so I can download my porn and AVGN videos....

This is the future, folks. Exclusive, artist support, paid content. You support the artists DIRECTLY and they give you what you want. That is what I am doing. At my Patreon.

Come join us. $1.00 a month. Less than the cost of a soda gets you a month access. The cost of 3 specialty coffees gets you a ton of art, comics and even upcoming VIDEOS! yup. All of it is there. And its been one month and Ive posted 24 times. That is WAY more content than I ever posted here on a monthly basis... and its not as depressing of posts as I used to do here! ;)

PATREON launches MARCH 1st! (plus a surprise!)

BIG BLOG TODAY. Last blog? All shall be answered!

First of all, I have been very busy with things. I am scanning new STARSLAM 3 pages and getting them to my colorist. (more on her later)

Second, Ive still been working OT at the day job, although its starting to dwindle. More time for artworking and making things happen.

Third, I am still learning to take time for myself. Last night my girl and I took a break from cleaning and artworking to watch a couple flicks. I revisited my old favorite: METROPOLIS for the first time in a few years. Then we watched a British flick she loves called DRIVING LESSONS. I also drove to Grand Rapids to visit my friend Tim and get to talk music and movies... two of my favorite subjects! We ended up making a deal for some of his old NES games, still with the boxes. These ones are extra special to me because they were his original, original, ORIGINAL buys from when he was a kid. So I have a piece of his history now on my shelf. Believe me, they will be there until I croak... simply for that reason alone! A lot of the things I collect are not for the value, but what they remind me of. Like my Trek 3 poster I got that reminds me of my mom and my old boss and his friendship. Things that hang on my wall are memories. Cds and DVDs are the same thing. And now these new games will always remind me of him, how we met and our friendship. You cant put a price on things like that. I am very much a nostalgia collector. But I am also making a museum of my memories.

But I know what you want to talk about... the PATREON!

Well, its live. Check it out: HERE

It OFFICIALLY launches March 1st. The first comic and blog will be live on there by then. This is in many ways a reboot for me, so I am going to treat it as such. Some of the first blogs and content there will be celebrating and refreshing everyone about my history. Then we will get to some probably semi~daily postings about things. New pinups and process stuff will go up and a few other surprises.

To say I am excited is an understatement. To say that I am scared as fuck is 100% accurate. But I am taking the leap, because WHY NOT.

Now, what happens to Idiothead.com?

Short answer is nothing at the moment. What remains in the online store will stay there. This will still be a hub I will direct people to. I will likely post here about new blogs, podcasts and things on the Patreon. Most of those blogs and things will be behind the paywall, but some may be public. I might just copy and paste them here, but really I am trying to redirect everything there. I realize this is a major change and will not happen overnight. But I will try all I can to make this work. Idiothead.com will remain here as a backup plan in case it fails.

Ive spent well over 12 years of my life here. I thank everyone for their continued reading and support of everything I do. Looking back over the blogs, a lot of it is typed out on a down note. It makes me seem like a guy who is stuffed full of insanity and on the verge of just jumping off the cliff. But to be honest, I am not that way at all. I am filled with joy at the chance to know that PEOPLE DO CARE about me and my work and are willing to toss me a couple bucks a month to prove it. And for those that want continued comics from me every month (of an erotic nature mostly), there is that too. This I hope will be a launching pad to fund my future... in comics, writing, music and my life as well. I will not let you down. Come with me on the journey. This next week: It launches Thursday, March 1st.

The beginning is NOW!

I will alert everyone that morning of its start. But I wanted to leave a little present for everyone before I go.

Here is the official cover to STARSLAM 3. Coming very soon as well. Thank you for paying attention to me here at the blogger all these years. The work continues... at http://www.patreon.com/adamtalley

Cheers, ~T

40 Years

Ive thought about what I wanted to write in this blog about turning 40. Ive gone over it a few times and I still do not know what to say. I got a million things I would love to bitch about, sing praises for, plug, scream and cry about, remember, forget, etc.  Just everything. The wickedness of the world seeps into my brain. The push/pull feelings of my own lack of time or creative rhythm beat in my head like a sore throbbing and leaking varicose vein. Im happy, grateful, excited, tired and worn out all at once. The distant past swirls in my thoughts and my future hangs over my head if I only were to reach up and grab it. But I dont. I just sit here thinking. Plotting. Pondering. Worrying.

So I wont go into any of it. I will just let the pictures of my recent life do the talking for me. Because right now, I just don't have much to say.

Not yet.

I'm grateful for everyone who sent me an email, a private message, a gift, a twitter or facebook post acknowledging my birthday. I saw you and I appreciate you caring enough to toss me a thought. Its means the world to me. Thank you.

My girl made me a birthday cake!
My two youngest enjoying STAR WARS. Its hard to get Scotty to sit and watch anything, but he and James were glued to the TV for the most part of watching A NEW HOPE this last weekend. Maybe I will never have to sit through another episode of PAW PATROL or PEPPA PIG again. :)
For my birthday, I told my girl to not get me any presents. She of course, would not listen. She dug through my want lists and scored these.... four vintage STAR TREK TMP mint on card figures. Will go very nice in my collection!

My in laws got me a nice collection of comics and graphic novels to read, as well as a card with a large amount of money in it to get something else I want. I really am blessed to have her and them in my life.

A couple weekends ago, my coworkers and I had another vintage game night. I beat DUCK TAILS for NES...

Hard to see, but they tag teamed and beat the original GHOSTS AND GOBLINS... which as some of you know is next to impossible to do!

While they wrestled with that, I did an entire playthrough of the first quest in THE LEGEND OF ZELDA... which shows you how long they were playing it! I started Zelda here when they were on their second play through near level 5. The beat Ghosts N Goblins when I was in the middle of beating level nine. So about an hour and a half of playing just one level to my whole original quest! Some patience they got, thats for sure!

To cap it off, we played a quick run through MARIO 3. Necessary.

Lastly on the pictures front, I found this meme this week and it very much rings true. Do not worry about me folks. I am just overworked, overtired and burned out. I haven't had a true vacation since last May. I have tried to take a day for myself here and there, but it has not really helped. This coming weekend I am going away for a bit, so I hope that fills my bone dry fuel tanks. Because feeling this way just sucks. But Ive been through worse. I will push through.

Final thoughts:

I recorded the LAST EPISODE of the IDIOTHEAD MORNING SHOW. Stream it HERE ~~ News about the new, reworked podcast is coming via my PATREON.... which will launch sometime this first quarter of the year. I have a bunch of stuff I am working on and saving for when it launches. I just want to be sure it is all ready before I pull the trigger on it and commit. I hope to shake this big draining cry of ennui off my shoulders for good and get to work on what I know I need to work on. It will be worth it when it rolls out. You will see!

Anyway, Thanks for reading and supporting. You will hear from me again soon.

~~Much love eternal, T

The Long December of Snow and Shitty Drivers

The snow is falling outside. I am not a fan of it. For the most part I do not mind snow, because it is beautiful and helps one mentally get into the spirit of the season.

What I do not like is driving in it. How arseholes around me drive fast and cause accidents... cost money during the holidays... put lives in danger. This weekend I drove to Flint to meet my oldest son halfway to give him his Xmas presents. It was a brief meeting but at least I got to do it. I had to drive in the snow and on the way I saw 9 cars in the ditch. Its only 1 to 3 inches deep outside. What the serious fuck, people?

Arseholes abound. The other night my girl and I were driving home and the cops were chasing a car trying to make a getaway. They crashed into someone behind me and headed our way. We swerved quickly into a parking lot and drove toward the back to avoid the situation. In our rear window we saw the car stop, the cops emerge with their guns drawn. For a minute I had a fear the people in the getaway car would make a run for it and perhaps run in our direction... putting us in the line of fire. But they got back into their broken vehicle and made a run for it, with three cop cars on their tail. I keep checking the news to see what that was or what the outcome was but cannot find anything. Safe to say, we decided to take the opposite way home. It shook us up pretty bad. Its one thing to see a dangerous high speed chase on Tv, quite another to see it a mere 20 feet from you. I will stay at home, thanks.

I was going to wake up early today and do some last minute Christmas shopping and then go see THE DISASTER ARTIST at 10am. I didn't make it. I was up at 9am, but the warmth of the bed made me not want to leave. Plus I can see the snow falling outside. Ive already pulled out my long johns to wear when I have to leave the house today. Its been a long work week. I had 18 hours of overtime and I will likely have even more this week. I have a TO DO list that is about 20 miles long. I still have more commissions and sketches to do to get these Kickstarter books in the mail. Over 1/2 of them have been sent out. I will not rest this week until they are all done and headed out.

I got a million things to do, a billion distractions I want to do... if I only had the time. I don't. So I have to suck that up and be thankful that I am busy. It is welcome, despite all I try to put in front of it. This week I will finish those books, I will get even more inks on STARSLAM 3 done. I will pencil and ink another story and some pinups for the upcoming Patreon page. Then I will treat myself by seeing STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI and then hanging with my kids this weekend. Hopefully sometime I can try and see THE DISASTER ARTIST as well. After all, all work and no play make Adam something something.

I am enjoying Sirius Radio again, thanks to my new car. Ive re-downloaded the app and am enjoying the streaming features. Howard Stern constantly distracts me and makes me laugh. I'm on a big TOM WAITS kick thanks to a featured UNCUT magazine all about him. We took the night off and watched CAPTAIN RON on Amazon Prime and last night I watched some MST3K while I was cleaning the bedroom and counting the presents I still need to get for Xmas. Hopefully done with that this week.

Anyway, just updating everyone. Im off to take a dump, pull on my long johns, scrape off the car and avoid the idiot drivers on the way to work. Yippie. Thug life.

Cheers, T

Talk About IT (Stuff and Survey)

Hello friends! I have been getting some emails and messages expressing excitement about the Patreon thing I am going to do.... asking about pricing and such. I have an idea mapped out but if any of you have any suggestions about what kind of pricing and tiers you would like to see, EMAIL ME HERE and Ill listen to your thoughts on it. I do have some big things planned for this Patreon even beyond comics and writing new blogs. It will definitely lead into a sex positive realm and since the gloves are off so to speak, I will be doing a special live audio recording... say, a PODCAST you can download, with special guests telling sexy stories of their own and more! Its going to really be jam packed full of erotic content and other content for those that are longtime fans of mine and dont mind weeding through the erotic stuff to get to the other stuff if it is more to their liking. I started working on new stuff for it this week! (In between all the overtime Ive been working!)

Thanksgiving week is here! BIG stuff going on and I hope (HOPE) that maybe I will relax a bit somewhere in there. Im sure going to try to get my work done so I can do that.

Despite it being busy on my end, I would like to relax a bit and do some survey work to get my mind going and post it here for you all. People have been saying they really like these that Ive added to the blog so here is another big chunk of questions. Enjoy!

SURVEY TIME!!

Something you're looking forward to in the future?  A: Finishing my artworking and launching the Patreon page. Throwing more crap at the wall and see what sticks. But before that, Thanksgiving and Christmas with my family. Eventually a day off somewhere in there.

How would you spend a perfect day with your best friend?
A: We would go to used game and music stores and do some shopping. Then record some music and then get drunk and do more skit tapes together, laughing all night.

Last book you read?
A: Maynard James Keenans autobiography.
